Our stay was ok but experience did not match the price. There is no housekeeping during your stay, no phone for room service - you have to order and collect yourself from the bar and carry back (but they try and add a service charge for this) The hot tub is an in odd location, so you won’t get privacy. Supplies in the room are very limited in quantity (tea/coffee etc) There was barely anyone staying so it felt oddly quiet and deserted. If the price matched the experience then the resort itself is nice enough, but over priced for what you actually get.

Went with my family for a birthday. I booked in advance for 4 people for afternoon tea but unfortunately on the day there was only 3 of us available to go. I didn't think to change the booking, assuming it didn't matter. However as we had already booked, they made afternoon tea for 4 and charged us for 4 people, even though there were 3 of us. We didn't mind as this was a special treat. But the 3rd afternoon tea was for a meat eater and we were all vegan and vegetarian. The extra food we were able to take home and give away. So it didn't go to waste. The food was really nice. The sandwiches were a little dry, don't think they were made to order, felt a little like they had been sitting around. The cakes were amazing. And the vegan sandwich was really yummy, vegan cream cheese and pickle was the favourite. The barn itself is absolutely beautiful. Stunning location. And lovely friendly staff. I had an issue with getting phone signal when trying to pay via Google pay. But was given the WiFi code which helped. Note, you need to ask for the WiFi password. The birthday girl really enjoyed it but I thought it was quite expensive for what it was. However I would recommend it as a treat as they catered for meat eaters, vegans and vegetarian. Really good coffee too! All in all a solid 7/10.

Lovely stay at retreat east, stayed in the den, we decided to upgrade from a shepherd hut as rain was predicted. Room was lovely but lacked storage in the shower room there was nowhere to put any toiletries or anywhere to do your make up. There wasn’t any bedside tables either so charging your phone across the room you have to get out of bed to turn your alarm off. Food is amazing but I didn’t like 12.5% service added to every bill including breakfast which was £18.50 for a full English. Continental is included but off putting as the fruit, meat and cheese is all uncovered and open to the flies about. We hired the bikes but didn’t last long as couldn’t find anywhere to go, a map would have been handy in the room. Nice stay but lodges lack privacy.

Surprised at the mixed reviews as we had a lovely stay at Retreat East. We stayed in one of the barns - rookery. The set up is very cute, a nice comfortable space with a private area at the back where you can relax. Bathroom and sitting area were nice with good products and facilities. I guess your stay could be spoilt if you had noisy neighbours as the sound proofing is weak, luckily for us the girls next doors were quiet, whilst you can hear people moving around it was not a problem. We used the spa facilities which are small but give what you need, it is a nice change to be able to book and have the facilities for your private use. Our spa treatments were great and very good value compared to other spas we have stayed in. Amber was a great spa therapist. Dinner was nice, it is a quiet restaurant with few staff but we went in a hurry and liked the relaxed vibe. Walks in the local area were scenic. Would recommend if you want a getaway with a relaxed approach.

This is not a spa if you can’t get booked in for a treatment. Hot tub is one that you can have in your own garden and you have to book a slot of 30 mins so not ideal. Food was overrated and ants seem to be a problem in the barn as I had ants on the table and in the sugar. Shepherds huts are no good if you are 6ft tall or claustrophobic. Polestar car sales use it for corporate events so they seem to take priority over paying guests. We booked for three nights and stayed one. My opinion is this is great for corporate events but no way a relaxing spa break. Waste of money.

I booked a stay at Retreat East for my girlfriend’s 21st birthday, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how peaceful and picturesque the whole place is — it’s the ultimate escape from everyday life. The accommodation was beautiful – cosy, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. You can tell every detail has been thought through. The hot tub was a real highlight – perfect for unwinding. We also loved taking the bikes out for a ride around the countryside, which added a fun and active touch to the stay. We had both breakfast and dinner at the on-site restaurant and were seriously impressed – fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Every meal felt special, and the service was faultless throughout. Overall, Retreat East gave us everything we were hoping for – peace, privacy, and a sense of luxury. It made my girlfriend’s birthday feel really memorable, and we’ve already said we’ll be back. Can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a romantic, relaxing break. Massive thanks to Lynn who made our trip extra special

The retreat was in a lovely setting. We stayed in the Sett which was large, well equipped and quiet. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The food in the Barn restaurant was very good. The spa treatments were excellent as was the hot tub experience.

Stopped by for a lite bite my friend had a lunch I just fancied a coffee and something sweet so had chocolate brownie 9.00!😳coffee 4.00 ordered a decaffeinated cappuccino. It wasn’t ….unfortunately within 10 minutes of drinking it I felt very poorly! Racing heart, dizziness, feeling faint and very weird! So knew they had got it wrong! Couldn’t eat the brownie as I felt sick. Such a disappointment! I had appointments in afternoon which was very difficult to drive and carry out my job? Didn’t eat for rest of the day, had to go to bed, and still feel unwell today? When will people take seriously the effects that getting this wrong makes? It made me feel horrendous! And I am unlikely to go back because? I have to work today and am really not well enough! As I am still spinning and dizzy! You do not go from being perfectly fine to feeling awful after coffee for no reason? And all the signs were there they had got it wrong? So please take into consideration how awful caffeine reaction can be to some people!!

Stayed in The Farmhouse at Retreat East for friends 30th birthday party. It is a beautiful old original house complete with wobbly floors, old windows & all old wooden doors with Suffolk/Norfolk latches. The decor was done tastefully & sympathetic to the period of the house, however there were lots of examples of tiredness & things that needing replacing or mending. The beds were very comfortable & it was a really peaceful rest. We did find after two people had showered & another had had a bath one morning, there was no longer any hot water; not great for a house meant to sleep eight! Cleanliness was okay, & staff were very friendly & even offered to lend us a pair of sunglasses of their own, when they had forgotten to bring theirs. The spa area was small, & definitely only fit for one party at a time. Breakfast was basic, & anything cooked was at extra cost, which was a shame not to be included in what was quite an expensive stay. Beautiful surroundings. But not sure I would return simply because of value for money.
