The Top House Inn

Pub is in a good location for a stop over when walking the coast with parking and shops close by. Room nicely decorated, but carpet dated, spacious with a distant sea view. Stained cushions need a clean. Room had the basic things you would expect. Nice big bath towels and the honey products smelled lovely. Bigger cups are needed they were too small. Evening food was good pub grub, we had linguine and fish and chips. Service was good with no long waits. Drinks are reasonably priced too. Staff were busy but friendly on arrival, during evening meal and breakfast, unfortunately one younger bar man wasn't friendly and he let the team down! Breakfast service was good but the food very greasy which I personally didn’t like or eat! Should also check any special requests on bookings as a table wasn’t booked until I phoned and our request for a bottle of bubbles didn’t happen either. Mixed feelings. It is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Beautiful place view was limited. Very nice old building and the room was reasonably adequate. Sadly that’s where it ended. Lots of cleaning is needed and a lot of damage to the bed. No water in room and struggled to get the kettle under the tap. The heating was on and someone had snapped the thermostat on the radiator. My husband went down and got someone to fix it so it could be turned off sadly he was unable to fix it so had to turn the boiler of to the building. We had to leave the windows open which made the blinds flap about so left them open slightly. Furthermore the furniture could really do with updating. Larger cups in the room as ones provided are most definitely far too small more coffee cups than tea cups. Breakfast was a little hit and miss! Could do with a good clean. Felt like they couldn’t wait to get us out the door as the last guy out the door was shut and locked as he left.

We stayed here for one night during our road trip around Cornwall. Andy and Margaret are very welcoming and friendly, the room was very nice and recently refurbished, lovely views, quiet and very comfortable. This is the perfect stay at Lizard, great food, great pub, great service, friendly locals and amazing clear night sky to see the stars! Very recommended!

Wife and I took friends from up country to top house for Sunday roast. Beef wafer thin like you would expect in a pack from Iceland , .obviously no joint of beef back there and veg was cold not microwaved for long enough. We gave this a three out of five only because the staff we very nice and very friendly .the beer however was excellent shame the food let it down

Well I really feel bad doing this as it’s something I never do, but having had Sunday Roast at the Top Inn with my partner today I have to say it was atrocious, I had the pork, there wasn’t one carved piece of meat, it was just like scrap ends, stringy and fatty, the veg were a mash all sloppy on top of each other, two small deep fried supposedly roast potatoes, a stuffing ball as hard as a golf ball, hence why most of it was left on the plate. Now why did I not complain at the time, because my partner doesn’t like a fuss. and begged me not too. The staff were so lovely, the lady behind the bar was so very nice as was the barman. Very disappointed

Simply awesome Gosh I have stayed in hotels around the world and have never experienced such generosity and kindness shown by the staff. The room was absolutely delightful and stunning. The gentleman who checked us in was amazing and so were the staff at dinner Beautiful centrally located hotel. So so fully equipped and the dinner was Superb. Thanks for a wonderful stay . Will be back soon. Will recommend it anytime.
