Polurrian on the Lizard

Great staff, stunning view, good food, beautiful beach, peaceful area, lovely cliff walks. Could stay there forever!

We returned to this hotel to celebrate my husband's birthday , we visited in 2022 and enjoyed the experience apart from the indoor pool badly needed repair and refurbishing. We particularly enjoyed the vista restaurant with spectacular views and very modern and airy. On this visit we found the vista in a very well used state stains on the upholstered chairs, very scratched wood floors and cleanliness was poor, debris on floors and some tables were not cleaned properly. Our evening meal was not positively memorable, service not good seem to have very young inexperienced waiters, we received our main course with no cutlery and took some time to alert somebody to rectify, meal was medioca. The indoor pool to our surprise was even worse than 3 years ago lots of pool tiles missing, again cleanliness issue, + the outdoor pool seemed to have maintenance issues now, liner coming away from seal, no steps to enter/ exit pool ( we were told at reception steps had been damaged by a guest but still usable just a bit wobbly!) but when we went to the pool were not present at all, was difficult to exit the pool. On the plus side rooms were very clean and comfortable and evidence of refurbishment in some areas. It seems that the hotel has been focused on creating luxury self catering units rather than keeping the restaurants and facility areas up to a good standard . I’m afraid we won’t be celebrating here again anytime soon We live in Cornwall but still like to stay by the coast occasionally to explore the coastal paths not on our doorstep. Such a shame !
