The employees were great. The area was quiet. Room was clean. It did get a bit warm at night as only 1 window opened and only at the top. Overall was a good stay!

Cycling the LEJOG and this was the perfect place to sleep and rest up for the night. The team running the hotel were excellent and very helpful. We were there on a Saturday night and the locals in the bar area were warm and welcoming. Overall great value for money. P.S. Book directly with them for a cheaper price.

Don't need fancy, don"t need frills or extras but clean is a must. The bedding was indeed clean but the room certainly was not. The pillow was like a brick....everyone has a preference I know but this was through many years use. One window had a broken pane of glass, the wallpaper was coming off the walls, huge cracks across the ceiling, ingrained dirt in all the corners, window frames mouldy and filthy, eletric socket damaged and unsafe. Breakfast was included and may have been good....but we couldn"t stay in the room any longer and left around 6.30am. As said, clean is a basic must! I've added pictutes.

The room was disgusting. There was mould and dirt in corners and around window. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling. Carpet in bathroom not good at all. It wasn’t as if the dirt and grime was even hidden it was in plain sight. The socket where you plugged in the kettle was melted a complete hazard.

This property was chartered in 1899, and offers an authentic experience. But that is not necessarily a bad thing! Yes, the room was tiny... basically a twin bed and a sink and not much more. But the shared bathroom was fine. Very clean and up to others I have had the enjoyment of sharing. Breakfast (to order) was quite good, but the real draw here is the attached pub, which offered many a fine night of drinking a pint with locals and listening to their stories, and the excellent food. Do not pass on the locally sourced Fish N' Chips. Fantastic!
The fact is, is that if you are exploring the Northern Highlands you don't have a whole lot of choices. And if you're up here, you've already decided to join the rough and ready group, The Belgrave Arms offers a decent bed, a good night's sleep, an excellent breakfast, and a welcoming pub to look forward to at the end of a day. If that doesn't get you up here, I don't know what will. Recommended
