Adventure Hotel Hellissandur

Room was spacious and clean. There were some muffins when we arrived. Tv not working, WiFi was slow. Breakfast was ok.

I cancelled another reservation at a different hotel and booked here due to the in person check in, restaurant and soundproofing in rooms. 24 hours before check in I received an email stating the restaurant was closed but there were options in a neighbouring town (where I had cancelled!) to eat including the gas station and that I would get a code to access the hotel at check-in time. Luckily, there was a person there for check in and he was able to rearrange the room to align with what was booked (after insisting). The rooms are not soundproofed and we could hear the person use the bathroom next door. The room that we were provided was above the kitchen so we could hear the kitchen noises (although we were told the restaurant was closed for renovations it was open for a tour group). We were above the garbage storage and had a door or something banging shut all night so I received zero sleep. Room poorly designed. The grommet for the kettle was too far from the plug to reach and the table didn’t move so I had to put the kettle on the floor after crawling under the table to plug it in. We had hoped for a great final night in Iceland and it was the complete opposite and I was tired and grumpy after lack of sleep on the day of departure. The breakfast was very basic. I would not go back here. It was a complete disappointment.
