I hadn’t been to Helen in 20 years and was excited to book something unique. The hotel’s name and Viking theme caught my eye, and although the $500/night rate with the tax was steep, we decided to go for it. Check-in was a great experience—clear directions, gated entry, valet, champagne on arrival, and a personalized welcome envelope. Very polished. Our room on the 4th floor was clean and comfortable, but lacked the Viking charm I expected. It felt more like a typical hotel room. The shower head was broken and sprayed everywhere which didn't help since it was an open shower with no curtain and a bathroom lightbulb was out—surprising for the price point. That said, the food at the bar was very good, and the pool area was a highlight. Poolside service was top-notch—friendly and attentive. Overall, a nice stay with some luxurious touches, but for the price, I was hoping for a more immersive theme and fewer maintenance issues.

I stayed two nights at Valhalla Resort in July, 2025. The hotel is far from being a resort. The room prices are extremely high. Their restaurant has good, albeit expensive meals. The rooms themselves are quite ordinary. The staff were very friendly. The nearby town of Helen offers exactly nothing save for tacky shops and poor restaurants. All in all, there is really no reason to visit Valhalla Resort.

It was St Patrick’s weekend and the Valhalla restaurant featured a corn beef and cabbage dinner. The beer selection and food was great … ate every bite. They also had a roof top bar that we enjoyed before eating… drinks were preferred perfectly!

The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The views were gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable. If we were to come back to Helen we would stay here again. It’s by far the nicest hotel in the area.

Perfect romantic get away
Went here for a get away with my husband and it was everything we needed. From the valet, to the check in staff to the spa, everyone staff member was friendly and went out of their way for us.
