Hotel Sporcher Nest

A lovely hotel, the rooms were well designed and stylish with a nice touch for attention to detail. Breakfast was to be pre-ordered, but additional requests were fulfilled without hesistation. A very friendly and welcoming service provided by the owner. We had a truly enjoyable stay.

Sporcher-Nest, we were greeted by English-speaking Peter Hummel in this traditional old Fachwerk building that been has extensively restored and modernised within. Beautiful was my first impression. Mask-wearing is optional and after being invited into reception we handed over details such as passport, etc. (I think this is a Bavarian thing). We were initially informed about breakfast, so this is where I begin. To keep food waste to a minimum, breakfast is pre-ordered the day before. No large buffet set up, food on the table with an option of a cooked egg, tea and coffee, juices etc. We didn't mind in the slightest and appreciated and respected their ethos (in Dad's Army style, Peter reminded us that there's a war on!). Breakfast was great with hkt drinks served when seated and eggs cooked fresh. We were shown around our room, a large double with an entrance for bags, coats etc., off which was the toilet, shower, and sink with a large drawer for toiletries. The main room had the bed, bedside touch lamps and table. 3 large windows, when shut kept the traffic noise out very well, and the room was lovely and cool as it sits in the shadow of another building and a 250-year old tree. The TV came provided with black sticky tape to cover the stand-by light. It's a hack that we've been using for years but it was much appreciated. Also the room guide had a list of TV channels which was most appreciated. On the landing is an honesty fridge with an array of cold drinks including beer. There is also a computer and printer for anyone to use. There's free wi-fi for up to 3 devices which we had trouble connecting to whilst in the room, elsewhere it worked well. Peter was very attentive and helpful, and clearly passionate about his Gasthof. Parking, free of charge we were giving a parking card to go in the car window. Carpark opposite the hotel. Very short walk Definately worth staying here again.
