Grand Hotel Healesville

Staff made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we walked in, presented with a great Aussie pub menu, yep garlic bread the way it should be without the hipster crap, for entree we finally found a salt and pepper squid that wasn’t from a packet or frozen, Our mains being the surf and turf and pork chop, both cooked to perfection and generous serve, but it was the happy helpful staff who made our 1 day stop at Healesville an enjoyable one

I have always wanted to eat at this grand old lady but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. My husband and I were welcomed, order taken and mains delivered very promptly. After that it all went pear shaped. The main course was tasty and we looked forward to our desserts. After 30 minutes of waiting my husband approached the waitress and asked her to check on our order. At this stage the dining room only had 2 other tables filled, a total of 9 people including us. After patiently waiting another nearly 10 minutes during which time the waitress had not returned with either our desserts or an update, my husband again approached the order desk to inquire about progress. It turned out our order had been delivered to the dining room, to the wrong table, and the patrons at that table had accepted the desserts and ate them!! When our replacement desserts finally arrived it was clearly obvious that my apple and rhubarb crumble had been zapped in the microwave for far too long as it was mouth searingly hot and the “crumble” was a soggy goopy mess. The rhubarb appeared to be missing in action and although the menu quoted butterscotch ice cream to accompany the crumble what I received was vanilla. All in all a very disappointing end to what was expected to be an enjoyable experience. I understand mistakes happen in hospitality but this was a fundamental error by the waitress in giving the desserts to the wrong table and when asked about the missing dishes, I did not feel that the staff gave adequate attention to our concerns.

Our family enjoyed a lovely meal here. The waitress was kind and attentive. Meals inc special carbonara pasta and roast vegetable risotto were delicious. The dining room is well presented. Beautiful historic hotel.

At least what we got. I read other peoples reviews but the Parma and calamari dishes were excellent. The personnel friendly. True pub grub Will Definitely go back again Last minute discovery as most of the other restaurants were closed including the top 3 in the area. Happy we went to grand

Horrible food Steak expensive & full of gristle unable to be eaten Manager was very unpleasant & rude Refused to refund the cost & asked if we wanted a doggie bag. Why would we want a doggie bag as it wasn’t able to be eaten, ok if you’ve got a dog. Waitress was pleasant a pity the manager wasn’t, she could learn from her staff My issue is you should always listen to your customers otherwise your going to loose business Will not be returning

I have been waiting for the hotel and bar to open for the past few days as we are visitors to the Healesville area. The staff are great and excellent for the bar and food service, however the food is really not up to a general pub standard. Between us we ordered 3 stakes 2 porterhouse and one scotch fillet. The amount of fat was terrible. Please see photo. This is from 2 plates. We returned the one and was told that this is all that available from the local butcher. Well local butcher do yourself a favour and please reassess your meat supply. Lovely place, great staff and ideal location, thanks again but please sort this out for your local people and potential visitors. Thanks Joe

Needed a night of fresh air and quiet, jumped on the bike and headed east. Following Whitehorse road out to the hills after dozens of world class wineries you hit Healesville. Pub’s prominent, parking out the back. Guiness on tap devine, enjoy a couple on the front porch.
