As members of the Wilson Winery, we've tried to visit all the B&B's under their management. Had not visited Calderwood yet, but it turned out to be an amazing place to spend our time during our food and wine visit to Healdsburg. Clean and comfortable bed, delicious morning coffee and full breakfast, cookies and wine in the evening, what more could you want?

My wife and I travel to Healdsburg several times a year. This was our first stay at Calderwood. We were disappointed. Arrival and check-in: The grounds are quite nice, including a koi pond. And check in was quick and straight forward. Room: When we went to the room it was nice and cold. However, it smelled a little bit moldy. Not crazy moldy, just a little moldy. It wouldn't have been a big deal except there was a laminated card in the bathroom with tips on how to save water. On the card it told us to take showers of three minutes or less amongst other things. That is quite severe. I'm a fast showerer (4-5 minutes from the time I turn the water on). We live in Northern California and understand droughts and water conservation. The toilet ran for much of our stay. Updating the plumbing would probably save a lot more water than most of the other items listed on the card. Half the electrical outlets in the room did not work. We set out from the property in the late afternoon. It is a short walk to the square/plaza at the center of town. We did a wine tasting at one of our favorite tasting rooms downtown and then went to dinner at a restaurant we hadn't tried before. The tasting was good as always and dinner was fantastic. We will definitely be going back to both of those locations on future trips. We had a glass of wine at a local bar we have frequented before and then headed back to the Calderwood. We had purchased a couple of bottles of wine at the tasting room and were looking forward to cracking one open for one last glass to fall asleep to. Alas, no wine opener in the room. My wife went to the main part of the building and looked around. There was wine offered to us when we checked in so presumably, they had an opener somewhere. She couldn't find one so called the after hours number. They told her where to look, which were all of the places she had already looked and then suggested she go look in the laundry room. At that point it was just time to go to bed since we had a full day of wine tasting the next day. Breakfast: As this is a bed and breakfast (and breakfast is half of the equation) you would think there would be a certain level of hospitality around breakfast. That was not the case in our opinion. Breakfast is served for one hour only in the main dining room. We have never stayed at a bed and breakfast with such an austere breakfast policy. During the 30-45 minutes we were eating breakfast they ran out of coffee twice and had to be asked by guests to refill it. I don't know the capacity of the property but there were around 10 guests eating breakfast when we were there. My wife said the coffee (when available) was terrible. I don't drink coffee so can't comment. The food was so-so and definitely not up to the level of what we have experienced at other bed and breakfast locations in Sonoma. We set out after breakfast with a driver to taste at a couple of wineries and have lunch in Geyserville. When we described our experience t

We were disappointed with the accommodations at the Calderwood Inn. On the plus side, the Inn is in a good location and the breakfasts were consistently tasty. The room, though, was badly in need of repair and updating. We reserved an Executive King Room. The room was on the ground level and had a nice outdoor area but the room itself had several issues: the carpet was old and stained, the pillows were lumpy, the closet handles were loose, the one dresser in the room was falling apart, the one arm chair had a wobbly back, the wood panel at the end of the bathtub was loose with nails and tub exposed, there was a gouge in the wall in the bathroom, there was only one small trash can in the bathroom -- not in the living area, and the bottom shutters of the bathroom window were missing. In the common area of the Inn, the water dispenser on one day was out of water. The Innkeeper could have been a little more engaging with the guests. The accommodations were not cheap. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this Inn.

The location of this inn is great, within walking distance to the center of town, and the staff is very nice. The garden and front porch are nice. However, this inn is not old and quaint. It is old and shabby. There was peeling walllpaper & chipped paint in many places. The carpeting on the stairs needed vacuuming all weekend. The carpeting in our room was old and looked dirty. The uncomfortable chairs had broken down cushions and worn out upholstery. The bathroom for our room was unacceptable. There was no stand up shower--it had a tub with a hand held shower head, but no shower curtain. The toilet had a slanted ceiling above it so that an average size person has to stoop in order to not hit their head whle using it. Breakfast was adequate, however I've had better at many B & Bs across the country. Management was very nice and did change our room for the second night to one that was a bit larger and did have a shower (It was shabby as well). We were thankful for that, even though we had to ask for it. I think this inn is way over priced for the quality. It is in need of repairs and updating.

Such a disappointment! After making a reservation almost 6 months in advance, we had high hopes for our stay. I did my research and noticed the "you are reserving a type of room" on their website and asked about that. When we called to reserve we were told that we would have the room requested. Nope! Upon arrival we were given a different room which I can only describe as shabby. The bathroom in particular was awful! You had to run the hot water a VERY long time before it got hot! You had to carefully step over the side of the old fashioned tub only to be pelted with a needle like shower that was difficult to get to the right temperature. The towels were thin and flimsy. The air conditioner was loud and would go on and off during the night. Breakfast was far from gourmet and a bit on the skimpy side. One morning we had scrambled eggs and bacon with a HALF a piece of rye bread. There were other issues with the place such as no lighting on the stairs of the lovely front porch which made it very dangerous to use and the mostly always locked front door. This is a very expensive inn that does not live up to expectations. Save your money and go elsewhere!

Calderwood is one of the best bed and breakfast inns I have stayed at. The inn is beautifully decorated, the employees are friendly and helpful, our room was so comfortable. Loved the gardens and the proprietor's wine. Breakfast was excellent. It's so nice to be able to walk downtown for dinner. Bike riding in the area is gorgeous.

This place is old and antiquated as well as not being properly maintained. When I stayed there, a fire alarm went off at 3 am and jolted me out of a sound sleep. And by the way, there is no manager on site to deal with these kinds of problems. One of the guests had to call an emergency number to get instruction on how to turn off the alarm. Another guest had to call 911 since apparently the alarm is not monitored. The furnishings are old and many things did not work. One of the TVs had no sound, the heating in the bathroom did not work. There were ants and fleas in my room constantly. There are better option in Healdsburg, I would stay somewhere else next time.

SUPER charming and beautiful place. We so enjoyed sitting on the deep porch overlooking the landscaped yard, enjoying a glass of wine and chatting with some other guests. Parking is plentiful. Breakfast was yummy -- spinach fritatta with arugula, watermelon and pineapple, blueberry muffins, fresh orange juice, great loose tea options and French press coffee. We borrowed bicycles and helmets and rode the bikeway and around town. The main square is a short walk from the inn. We took full advantage of the complimentary tastings at four of the affiliated wineries. I especially recommend Jaxon Keys and Wilson. We stayed in the Jaxon Keys room, which was nice. Very comfortable bedding. The only issue is that there is no stand up shower for that room. There is a shower handle for the big claw tub.
