The entrance of the hotel is not very noticeable and the reception is the same as the pub cashier.

We stayed at The George Hotel to meet up with family and had a lovely stay, the staff were great and couldn't do enough for us they were really helpful. The food and service was great and the rooms were really comfortable we will definitely be going back.

The room was ok. But do not let staff entre your car details when staying, unfortunately we did, instead of a 5 night stay, he put us in for a 2 night stay. We then had a £100 fine. The hotel was not helpful, and because the so called manager, no longer works there and had not sent a confirmation email, we had to pay, as we tried to fight this which ended up more than our stay. Just be warned.

If I could rate you a zero I would. We came with our 14 month old child and had no heating for 2 nights. And the space heater we were given in order to correct this didn’t work and hadn’t been safety checked in 4 years. The hair dryer in almost 20! When we tried to speak to staff about the heater we were unable to make contact with staff at all to begin with and when we did we were told we just had to deal with it like they were as they had no other options available to us. The only hot water available was the shower or kettle, the TV turned on but didn’t have any channels. Genuinely lovely room but you have done nothing but fail to provide any adequate solutions to your buildings issues. The corridor to our room didn’t even have any lighting or any windows so we had to rely on our own phones to get safely to and from the room. We were not made aware of these issues prior to our stay, but have since found out that the issue has been an issue for several days despite it all being made out to be a sudden issue at check in. My baby found rubbish from previous guests, and almost ate it. Horrified to say the least. For £250+ this is not at all worth it and has ruined this weekend celebrating my sisters wedding.

Feels like a scam, enticed in by the big signs from the main road, I stopped for a quick drink and something to eat. Staff did not ask me for my car registration number and there were no signs inside stating it needed to be registered. As I result I received £100 fine for parking in their car park. They do not allow you to appeal this as either you “had to have booked online as a visitor at the hotel prior to going” or you had to enter your registration number in the terminal which only the staff have access to. Total scam rip off. Staff not helpful when you call. “Nothing they can do”!

I used to visit this place a lot. To say it's gone downhill is an understatement. I hadn't been for several months but did so again on 03rd September. I purchased a pint and sat outside at the back. I was shocked to see the once cosy interior now resembles a cafe. To cap it off I later received a parking fine even though signage outside states free to use for customers. I re visited to talk to someone about my fine but the staff member behind the bar was not interested and was immediately defensive with attitude. I'm assuming The George now has new people running the place. I'll be amazed if they last another 12 months. For me the people in charge now are clearly not very customer focused.

Be careful here - you could get a parking fine - we were not asked to load our reg details on arrival and then when we came back there was no one there at all - we were the only people in the hotel all night - no staff on site - we gave our car reg to the chef to input and clearly no one did so received a parking fine of £100 - we appealed this but were told it was unsuccessful as we should have told the hotel our car reg even though we were not able to! Called several times to speak to manager - no response, 2 emails - no response so it ended up being a very expensive stay. Very disappointed.

Stay well clear do not waste your money, i stayed there for a week due to work, the rooms are shaby, in my case i had no hot water, the bed was in 2 halfs which keeped coming apart, reported it to hotel staff ,and did nothing about it, cobwebs all round the ceiling and bathroom full of mould, not once did i get clean bedding or towels, change after numerous request to the hotel staff, they where not interested once they had been paid, also i received 4 parking tickets totalling 400 pounds for staying there as the lad in the so called reception said he would enter my registration into the machine, this did not happen hence parking tickets rang manager who said its out of our control as we dont own the carpark ,so do yourself a favour stay well clear

Nice food, really friendly service. After a long day of walking and exploring the beautiful surrounding area, the food was hearty and Jazz made us and our 2 young girls very welcome. Thank you! It also opens regular hours and more often than some of the other surrounding places.
