My first experience in a ryokan and it was through the roof. Perfect service, awesome dinner and breakfast, clean and spacious room and an amazing onsen. The price is quite high but still lower than some other high-class ryokans. It was totally worth the price!

There is a minibus at the ferry. The hotel is right at the entrance of Hongye Valley Park. There is a stream garden at the door. Next door is the free bus to the park cable car. It takes only 3 minutes to walk to Itsukushima Taisha Shrine. It is very suitable for elderly and children to stay.
The hotel has a long history, and the walls are covered with photos of celebrities. You can also encounter deer when taking a hot spring bath. The staff is enthusiastic and English is OK. Most of the guests are foreigners and elderly people. Don't worry about staying there~
Note that you can't wear a yukata to Itsukushima Taisha Shrine!

秋錦亭に泊めていただきました。HPにあるように日本家屋の伝 統を感じる、ホッとする佇まいの部屋というか一軒家でした。我々に付いてくれた仲居さんが元気でかわいく流石！岩惣という所作を感じました。内風呂もヒノキの香りがする外の景色も落ち着きました。結局、新館の風呂には行かず仕舞い。来年の楽しみに残しておきました。それから、朝夕の料理もよかった。食べすぎ気味。

Old traditional ryokan at a UNESCO Heritage site, so you expect you pay the price for it. What I did not expect it is overrun by Western tourists. Both times I visited the onsen there were young boys running around and jumping in and out of the onsens. Not really the serene onsen experience I was looking forward to. I enjoyed the food at the dinner, but the experience was somewhat offset by a large loud Italian family complaining they cannot possible eat this or that. The positive aspects were the service, which was always impeccable, and the location at the start of the hiking trails up the mountain.

Un Ryokan au sein d’une forêt magnifique et de chemins de randonnées à faire. Cet établissement est typique au Japon et vous fera vivre un moment hors du temps. Accueil chaleureux, un thé offert en chambre à l’arrivée, un dîner extraordinaire,, que de bons souvenirs ! La gentillesse est le maître mot de l’accueil réservé aux clients. Onsen intérieur et extérieur au top tout proche de la rivière qui borde l’hôtel. Merci à toute l’équipe pour ce formidable moment

For almost $800 per night the food was mediocre at best. First course fish was inedible, tough, chewy sushi and whale. Second course better. Overall quality and taste of meals very mediocre. Onsen nice. Room average. Nothing special. Ridiculously early check out 10:00 AM when breakfast ends at 9:30–and they tried to charge us for being an extra 45 minutes!

Good ryokan with traditional Japanese fare for dinner and breakfast. Good service and a lovely place. I found it a little underwhelming for the price we paid which is the only reason for deducting a star. But still a nice experience overall and great to stay on Miyajima Island and beat the crowds by visiting the key sites in the early AM.
