We are a family of four—two Japanese children and two adults (half Japanese, half American). We’ve lived in Japan for 25 years and have stayed in many ryokan across the country. We’re happy to pay a premium if the experience is worth it, but unfortunately, this ryokan did not meet expectations. The public bath is in need of renovation, the food was very ordinary, and there were storage boxes placed around the restaurant during dinner, which took away from the atmosphere.
Staff are nice.

Stayed 2 nights on the island of Miyajima.
Typical ryokan style with tatami mats with mattress for a good nights' sleep.
View from the room was good towards the Torii gate on the beach.

It should be the hotel with the best location for viewing the Grand Torii in Miyajima! The hotel includes breakfast and dinner, and the price is very cost-effective. There is also a shuttle bus. The beautiful scenery and ideal location of this Ryokan were exactly as advertised! In fact, Jekeiso has probably the best view of the famous Torii in Miyajima! You can walk 5 minutes to the Torii and the Shrine after hours or before the tourists get there in the morning. Their Kaiseki dinner meals and breakfast were excellent... with a lot of variety. Their staff was so professional providing excellent service. We loved how they would pick us up at the ferry station with their van. Also really enjoyed their 30-minute private onsen.
