The Bannatyne Spa Hotel

Bannatyne's resort impresses with its great location and spacious, comfortable rooms. Guests value the friendly, competent staff and the modern amenities such as spa, pool, and gym.

This hotel is in a lovely building, very quiet location, clean, modern, staff are brilliant, we did have issues with length of dinner service but the hostess made it up to us and acknowledged their time delay (which we appreciated). Food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. The spa treatments were wonderful and very relaxing, but the one thing I would say is avoid the wet spa area. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and outdoor jacuzzi's are all in the same place and everyone can use these facilities as its a separate building for public/members to use and it was so so busy, loud with families and children and far too over crowded to relax in. If you want to avoid that then the rest of your stay will be lush!

My husband and I recently purchased a spa break as a Christmas treat for ourselves and his partner, looking forward to a relaxing weekend together—a rare opportunity for us. On our arrival, I would like to commend the lady at the reception. She was exceptionally polite and professional, accommodating our request for an earlier check-in to facilitate our spa treatments, which were scheduled before the 3 PM check-in time. Additionally, her recommendations for evening activities following our meal were much appreciated. The spa facilities and treatments were commendably clean, and the staff demonstrated a high level of professionalism. However, I would like to address some concerns that arose later in our visit. After our spa treatments, we returned to our room to unwind before preparing for our dinner reservation at 7:30 PM. Once we were all ready, just after 6 PM, we proceeded to the bar for a drink before our meal. Unfortunately, the service at the bar was less than satisfactory. The staff appeared to lack the necessary knowledge and confidence in their roles, which impacted our experience. After placing our order, I was incorrectly charged for items I did not order, and two drinks were completely overlooked. After finishing our drinks, we made our way to the restaurant for our reservation. Upon seating, we were informed that certain items on the menu, specifically pizza—which comprises roughly a third of the menu—were unavailable. This was surprising, especially since we had seen pizzas being delivered around 5 PM when we left the spa. When we inquired about the reason for this, we received a disappointing response of "I don't know; we just aren't offering it." Given that the last sitting was at 8:45 PM, this lack of clarity set an unfavourable tone for our dining experience. After perusing the menu, we attempted to place our order with one of the waiters. To our surprise, we were told, "I am not allowed to take your order; I will send someone else." A few minutes later, another staff member approached us. We requested to order drinks and food, only to be informed that while they could take our drink order, there was a queue ahead of us for the dinner order. This left us questioning whether this is standard practice in your establishment. After approximately 15 minutes of waiting for our turn in the queue, we finally placed our order. However, when the food arrived, it seemed to be unceremoniously flung onto the table before the staff promptly departed. Feeling disheartened by the service, we decided to pay our bill and return to the bar for a more enjoyable experience. As we finished our drinks and headed back towards the hotel to access our rooms, we were met by a bar attendant who had locked the entrance and insisted we go around to the front of the hotel to re-enter, which was quite inconvenient.
