Candlewood Suites Hartford Downtown

Quiet hotel, great room, hotel is in a shady location but nobody bothered us. The front desk ladies were very nice. Walking distance to the Xfinity Theatre.

This hotel is Excellent ! It is very well insulated and noise does NOT travel creating a nice peaceful and cozy environment. Every part of this hotel is extremely clean. The rooms are quite large. The beds are extremely comfortable. And for once you don't have to bring your own pillow! The pillows are even labeled 'soft' or 'firm'! NICE! The rooms have a fully functional kitchen equipped with a burner to cook on, cooking utensils and dishes, microwave, coffee maker, with full-size sink and full-size refrigerator. There is large desk space for those who need to complete some work. There is a large flat screen TV with many channels. The bathrooms are spacious and clean and the towels are comfy. The fitness center has everything you need to enjoy a great workout. The pool is good size, has ample seating area, plenty of towels, and it even has a chair lift to assist customers with physical disabilities in accessing the pool...a VERY nice touch and very well thought out. This hotel even has a lending locker where you have access to games and other cool stuff! There is a mini store off the lobby equipped with snacks, drinks, candy and other food and is accessible 24/7. This hotel is very close to downtown where there are many quality restaurants to choose from. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to everyone!

We booked this hotel for a theatre run and to visit Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe Museums. FYI… The hotel is in an isolated location with no food options nearby. The major issue we experienced was that our initial room and room we were moved to smelled like raw sewage. When we arrived in our first room, we noticed an off odor like a stinky diaper but wasn’t sure why it smelled that way. We had been traveling over 7 hours and had an event to get to. On the way back we purchased some air freshener, sprayed the entire room and crashed. We woke early the next more to the awful smell of raw sewage. Called the front desk and requested a room transfer. We were told that we had to wait for the manager. After an hour of no communication, my husband went to the front desk to express how bad this room smelled but he was told that the manager was not there and had not responded to the issue. An hour later the same response was given. When my husband returned, we could hear staff in the hall talking about the smell issue and they were completely familiar and aware that there is an issue! After about 4 hours, we were told that we would be moved. We were shown another room that initially smelled fine, we dropped our belongings and rushed off to our museum tours and a play. Upon our return, we noticed that this room also had the off smell of sewage though not as bad as the first room. Still it smelled of sewage. The hotel had posted signs indicating it was “Sold Out” so I knew we could not change rooms. I search for nearby hotels only to find that most hotels were sold out due to a few large events in the Hartford area that week and weekend. So we were stuck. I have never been so happy to leave a hotel as I was this one. Something is clearly wrong at this location and the Health department needs to investigate the issue. The manager was of no help and IHG sent me back to him after I called for their support! I do not recommend staying at this hotel ever.

I went to an event at the XL Center and this hotel was super convenient! I only stayed at the hotel overnight, but I was able to walk back and forth to the venue - with free parking at the hotel! The hotel is a bit isolated, but there are sidewalks all the way to the XL Center and it is well lighted. I was with someone, so I'm not sure I would do the walk alone at night, but I would highly recommend staying here for this purpose.

Convenient location near downtown. Comfortable and very clean rooms . I enjoyed full kitchenette made our trip very comfortable and relaxing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return here when next time in Hartford Ct

Should have checked out the reviews prior to booking this hotel for a two-night stay. We pulled up to the hotel just as two police cars and an ambulance were driving into the convenience store across the street. Not wanting to stick around to find out what was going on, we drove south, out of the downtown area, to a rundown Holiday Inn Express there. Called Candlewood to cancel and told them why—they still kept the $300 representing one night’s stay. No plans to ever return to Hartford.

Excellent Stay. Very comfortable, cozy, and clean hotel. Downtown Location is best and convenient and free parking . Rooms with full kitchenette and staff is very helpful. I Loved my entire stay at this hotel .
