Ramada by Wyndham Harrisonburg

My wife and I stayed in room 111 at this location last night, and from the check in to the condition of the room, our experience was the worst quality possible. My wife had to stand outside for approximately 2 hours while the front desk argued back and forth with my company about the type of reservation and then struggled to process the corporate payment. The company wound up having to pay for the room, pet fee, and pet deposit on one reservation, which was then mysteriously cancelled, at which point another room reservation had to be made and payment had to processed a second time, and we continued to be denied access to our room despite the fact that full payment was being made twice for the same stay. There was zero consideration for the fact that paying guests of the hotel were standing in the heat and mosquitoes for such a ridiculous amount of time. This morning at checkout, while apologetic, the gentleman working the front desk would not provide a zero balance receipt that included the pet fee and deposit. These charges were assessed by and paid directly to the hotel and were not processed through the third party reservation company, therefore they were not reflected on the receipt obtained through that company. The desk clerk continued to state that we needed to contact that company for a copy of the receipt despite the fact that, again, the charges were not processed through that company. They were assessed and processed directly by the hotel. I explained the need for this documentation for expense purposes with my company, but wasn’t given the documentation. We were also told that there was no availability for a second night, but it honestly just felt like we were not wanted as guests due to my company’s corporate rate and the fact that they booked the room through a third party. Regarding the room, during the night, when my wife discovered that the microwave wasn’t working, she pulled out the cabinet and discovered that the outlet was pulled away from the wall and sparking, with both the refrigerator and microwave plugged into it. Both appliances stopped working, and the refrigerator defrosted, soaking our food and the floor in front of the cabinet. Also behind the cabinet were multiple living and dead roaches, a roach trap, and a powdery substance, presumably some type of insecticide. I have reported the hazardous issues to city agencies and filed a complaint with Ramada corporate. I’m not a picky person or a complainer, and I’m very understanding of the issues a business can encounter, but this location clearly doesn’t care to address these problems, as is reflected by the fact that complaints about roaches go back for two years , and room maintenance hasn’t addressed a clearly hazardous electrical problem in this room. Please avoid staying here unless, like us, you have no choice.

Check-in was smooth. The property was clean and well kept. The rooms were clean. I would guess remodeled fairly recently. Plenty of plugs for our phones and iPads. The beds were comfortable.

Deposits over the top. $20 pet fee plus $100 deposit on one room. $50 deposit on the other (petless) room. Sink didn’t drain. No good areas to walk pet if you have one. Room was clean and no strong smells! Shower worked well. Plenty of TV options.
