When booking the accommodation for Saturday 5th February 2022, it was key that the accommodation had private bathrooms. On this website it states ‘Separate bathtub and shower’. I was thoroughly disappointed when I arrived to find that the bathrooms were in fact shared with others on our floor. Numerous times I went to use the bathroom and they weren’t left in a great state. Secondly, on getting into the room, it was freezing cold. I found I had a heater in there which I went to plug in but the wires were split by the plug and therefore, didn’t work. I contacted the phone number of which sent me the details and they advised me to take another heater from an empty room which I did however, this should’ve been checked beforehand. Upon turning the TV on, there was a large crack across the screen so it was unwatchable. I did send the image below to the number to inform them of this. The hotel was also advertised as a non-smoking hotel however, when heading to my room, there was a strong smell of tobacco smoke and **** in-between the 1st and 2nd floor. This made my stay feel very unpleasant. There was mould on my windows and they were also in a very poor condition. I also found the bed to be high uncomfortable also. In addition to all this, my friend was staying in a separate room on the top floor where we discovered that his room did not lock from the outside. This meant that after arriving, his belongings had to be placed in my room when we went out to get food. This is another key safety point. Overall, not only was my stay falsely advertised, it was also very unpleasant to stay in. I will not be attending this hotel again and strongly do not recommend it. Numerous phone calls and messages yet no reply.

The best word I found to describe Pages Hotel and Guesthouse is "quirky"; let me explain. The hotel does not feel like a hotel but more like a house of multiple occupancy (HMO), albeit very short-term occupancy. Why do I think this? There were no reception staff, indeed, no reception at all, and we received our check-in instructions by text message (after phoning the number on the sign). Our room was not accessed from the hotel but via the car park, so we never felt connected to the hotel (which is nice if you want privacy, I suppose). The continental breakfast was actually a self-service tea/coffee, cereal & toast provision, and the self-service extended to doing your own dishes. The good and bad points of our stay My wife would have loved the temperature of the room as it was very warm The shower was warm and powerful but the hot water took a long time to get hot (probably due to a long pipe run) Some of windows in our room did not close properly and other parts of the hotel showed signs of needing some maintenance The car park may not have enough spaces for guests as our car was blocked in (and remained so until after 08:00) I can see this hotel working perfectly if you have a very early flight, and the ability to get your own breakfast would be very welcome, where in other hotels you would be starting the day hungry. This scenario did not describe our stay, so for that reason, I will not be a repeat customer. If the owner is still reading this, I have some suggestions: Fix the plugs in the sinks: when shaving I needed to leave the hot tap running so I had water in the sink; the kitchen sink plug was missing, again resulting in a running tap. Move the smoking facility more than two feet away from the door as there was a residual tobacco smell in the room

I’m a travel agent so I go to many places to review. Positives: it’s clean and functional. Nicely laid out living room kitchen and rooms are very spacious. I had to make a special request last minute and the owners were fabulous helping me and accommodated straight away. Breakfast lay out and eating area is nice. Tv is great and Internet. Lovely to have a smart tv in the room. Negatives: little things. The hedges where the gate is need cutting because one side the gate isn’t open fully and I have a big car and only just made it in. You need a new kettle and I would prefer a kettle in the room and cups and glasses. It’s a little cold and the heating wouldn’t work. It’s a hard floor but I bought slippers with me. I would get fitted bed sheets because these come down when you move. Couple of extra cleaning needed in the bathroom or maybe come replacements. The other guests are very noisy, lots of stomping and slamming doors. Not owners fault but is currently disrupting me still at 10pm and I have to be up at 5. Overall I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be in the area because the owners are nice and it’s clean enough but I would address the issues above.

I absolutely love this place, and try to get at least 5 times a year. Situated close to stansted airport 11 miles. And also rail links to London. The guesthouse is in a very quiet location, with lovely garden and seating to sit out and have a drink in the evening. The rooms are very clean and spacious with tv’s The communal areas are cleaned daily. Breakfast is included in the price, and it help yourself to cereal, toast and yogurt. Or you can bring you own food and cook a full English if you prefer. The owner and cleaners are lovely and friendly and approachable if you happen need them for anything. Can’t wait till I’m here again 5*+ 👍

Lovely place to stay, full of character and clean. Only down side I can find is there was hot water pipes behind a wooden screen in my bedroom and my sons bedroom and it was like a sauna. No way of turning the heat down and the 1 fan we had between us didn't help much at all. Not much sleep had because of it. The lounge area was really comfortable and quiet, kitchen was well stocked. I didnt mind toast jam and cereal for breakfast, coffee and tea making facilities were great. Would have liked an ensuite bathroom but again it wasn't an issue x. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay xx

First impression from the front of the property were good but I'm afraid it was all downhill from there. The bed was very uncomfortable. Definitely in need of a new bed. The toilet seat was unhinged. There's a hole in the wall in the bathroom which I assume was the sewage pipe from the old toilet that would have been previously there. Breakfast is basic cereal toast yoghurt. I suppose it's cheap enough not to care but a little more care and attention is definitely needed. We saw absolutely no one during our stay. We literally had to wash our own dishes. I wouldn't stay again. A few more quid and you can stay in a travel lodge where it's warm and definitely more comfortable

We booked the family room with garden view because it is so spacious, nice, and private. The big problem was that the bed is VERY VERY uncomfortable. You can feel the springs, which are very obvious while you try to sleep. We wrote to the owner about the terrible mattress, but received no reply. Another thing is that the sofa needs a new cover. The bathroom is great with good water pressure and lots of hot water. The room was clean, and so was the shared kitchen. Breakfast is self-serve with simply the bare essentials. The guests in the main house were workmen, and pleasant. Nice, quiet street location. I would stay here again only with a new, proper mattress. The owner really needs to care about this and do something about it.

Arrived about 8pm as we had travelled to Harlow to bury my fathers ashes. Outside was pitch black. No security light! We were in room 1 on the ground floor. Very clean room and en-suite, however one of the plug sockets was hang out! No free view tv when all I wanted to do was chill after the day we had had. Called owner several times but no answer. Email sent and again ignored! Rude! No lamps in the room. No dressing table to do your make up. No shaver socket in bathroom and hole in the tiles. Broken hanger left in drawer. Very very basic. Every time someone went in and out of the kitchen and lounge the door banged really loudly. Did not bother with breakfast which again was very basic. Would not stay again.
