I spent four nights in the J. D. Young Hotel, all staff I dealt with were very attentive and efficient in their various duties. Nice bar/restaurant area and the couches are nice when you just want to have a pint and talk a bit (I like the Wolfpack Stout on tap). Breakfast always good, after being very stuffed with the traditional, I opted for lighter fare and the mashed avocado, with poached eggs on brown bread was a favorite. Only ate in the dining room one evening and the seafood linguine was something special. My room was nice although it lacked a chair or device to put a suitcase on which would have both been good to have but not a big deal. I appreciated the exact packets of coffee, sugar, etc. being replaced each day because I usually left the hotel about 06:00 am each morning, well before 08:00 breakfast service, and I need the caffeine in the morning. I would gladly stay at the J. D. Young Hotel again and if I do, I want to try more items on the dining room menu.
