Landoll's Mohican Castle

This was our first trip in a long time and we were really looking forward to it, but we left disappointed. Check-in was simple, the staff was friendly, and at first glance the grounds looked beautiful. But once we got to our room (the Hardesty Suite, right off the lobby), it was a letdown. The second we opened the door we were hit with an overwhelming damp, musty smell like mildew. We tried to brush it off since it’s an older building, but it definitely aggravated our allergies and made for a rough night. The room looked clean on the surface but felt tired and outdated. The end tables had heavy water damage, the furniture was worn, and overall it just didn’t feel like a “luxury” stay. The bed was fine and appeared clean, but when we went to shower that night we saw mold in the shower. That ended it for us, no relaxing shower after a long day of travel and walking the grounds. Even outside the room, upkeep was disappointing. Beer cans, water bottles, wedding brochures, and bubbles were scattered throughout the area where ceremonies take place. The wedding had occurred the day before according to the brochure we found on the ground. As a couple considering this as a venue to renew our vows, it was immediately off-putting and ruined the ambiance, the rash was still there the day we left, making it 3 days. Traffic cones blocked broken bricks, and the door to the observation tower remained locked our entire stay, so we couldn’t even enjoy that feature. The pool was okay but outdated. Inside the grotto a chunk of the wall was missing, and empty cups and trash were left behind that nobody bothered to check. For the price, this was nowhere near worth it. Between the smell, mold, outdated furnishings, locked amenities, and lack of upkeep, this was not the luxury getaway we hoped for. We won’t be back.

I had recently stayed at the castle for a wedding. I will admit that it is a gorgeous and unique property. We stayed in the stables which are very spacious rooms. The room had a very distinct musty odor similar to a basement. Everything in the room was also damp. Thankfully, I was gifted this room and did not purchase it myself, because that’s not the quality of accommodations I would expect for $676.26 for 2 nights. You are definitely paying more for a unique building rather than the actual quality (this price also is not for the main castle, it’s a separate building). For the cost of renting the venue for your wedding, you would assume they would dedicate the space to you. Apparently, they do not find this necessary. While we were getting ready, a staff member brought in another couple to give them a tour. At this point, I was over this property and just ready to be on my way. That was until I had received an email that I was charged $128.40 for a “stained” robe (see last attachment). I, like MANY other people, had gotten a spray tan prior to the wedding. Mind you I have stayed at many hotels and have had plenty of spray tans in my life and never ran into this issue. They granted me a later check out at 12pm and I had waited in the hotel lobby until 2pm as I had a later flight. They sent the email at 6:41pm that it was “stained quite substantially”. I find it interesting that my card was charged before they even laundered the items. When I asked them to send me a copy of the policy I signed, it took them 4 days to produce it. I did not appreciate the snide remarks made by the general manager in their response. As a business owner, I would be appalled if this is how my staff handled upset guests. I would think twice about considering this hotel and wedding venue

We had a wonderful stay for our 20th

Overall my wife and I had a really nice time with our overnight stay, the suite was nicely decorated and the amenities were good! The bed was very comfortable and the suite was spacious enough for two. Minor things that could be improved on, are new irons for pressing or steaming clothes. Making sure the the windows are properly cleaned. All in all the Landoll’s Mohican Castle was a very nice trip, and we would definitely comeback in the future!

Landoll's Mohican Castle is so beautiful and the room was perfect and very clean. It was our anniversary and everything was amazing! The restaurant definitely holds a special place in our hearts as the food was extremely tasty and my wife and I very much look forward to our next visit! If you like great food and beautiful scenery then you will absolutely love this place!
