It was a very nice hotel room. The atmosphere brought us back somewhere in Italy

I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

We stayed 2 nights in the deluxe spa suite and were moderately satisfied. Given the price of the room and coming from a 5 star hotel we expected better. the wallpaper was torn off in certain places and camouflaged by something, the mini bar was not complete. the instructions for the bathroom spa not super clear. The shower was also not completely waterproof. Too bad not to have real sheets for the cover. however, we enjoyed the view and the jacuzzi. comfortable bedding. for the breakfast option, not at all up to the standard of a 5 star, and that's a shame. also disappointed, the 2nd evening we wanted to order cocktails for happy hour, the bartender being present told us that the bar was closed for that evening and when we asked if we could have them in our room we were told said no you can order only food , why? while the bartender was present, is this laziness? The hotel spa amenities were all out of order as well. At this price and claiming 5 stars we were quite disappointed

Good hotel that is well located. Got upgraded into a bigger room.

The location is outstanding and the resort very well presented with excellent sized rooms. Ours had a spa on the deck which added to the experience. Overall presentation of the place very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and dinner experience.

Do not waste your money. overpriced. spa was dirty and the restaurant was absolutely the biggest disappointment. we left after our entree's as was not prepared to pay $45 for a main based on the entree. When I explained this to the maitre d he just shrugged his shoulders and let us walk out! Overall very run down and 2.5 stars at best. Such a shame as last time we were here it was superb.

What a great place to stay and for a reasonable price. Staff were lovely, facilities were great and couldn’t speaker higher of the rooms. Would come back again and it was a great setting to stay at in whilst it was snowing outside. Really happy

Exceeds Expectations ! To have your own Private Spa pool you can relax in anytime of day is perfect for a beautiful getaway. The ambience of the fire place and a double Spa Bath just added to the fact you don't need to go anywhere else! The food exceeded our expectations. Hubby is a Butcher/Baker and his steak was served up perfectly and he commented it was premium grade. Well Done guys!

We spent 3 nights at this lodge (I could've spent 1 week relaxing there) The rooms were spectacular and spacious, The views are mind blowing, the staff were so friendly and the food was outstanding We will definitely recommend this Lodge to anyone travelling to / or around Christchurch. There is lots to do in the little town of Hamner Springs. (5 minutes away) Special mention to these three people who went out of their way for us Chamindo - the chef; spectacular meals (the steak melted in our mouths, and the Lamb Shank was "to die for") Sagrika - in the spa; who gave me the most relaxing massage and; Tharindu - who we dealt with prior, and warmly welcomed us at reception 10/10 to all of you, We will be back
