Tussock Peak Lodge

An amazingly spacious and warm room. The bed was the comfiest we have had in a hotel/motel in a long time. The staff were extremely friendly and offered plenty of advice. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Only a short walk down to the Hanmer Springs Hot pools.

Stayed at Tussock peak motor lodge for 4 nights for a much needed escape from Christchurch. I booked a suite with a kitchenette and spa bath. As soon as I got in I felt at home, the bed is really comfy, plenty of pillows & even in mid winter the room is warm! Walking distance to The hot pools & amenities. I highly recommend staying here. I felt really safe here travelling alone. Fi & Tony are so lovely and really went above and beyond to make sure everything was right! Thankyou so much!

Great place to stay and good value - friendly helpful hosts. Well appointed rooms - really warm and heater was on when we arrived Very clean and everything we needed. Also electric car charging available free of charge for guests! Would definitely recccomend

For our joint 50th birthday in November my husband and I were gifted a very expensive voucher to stay at Tussock Peak Hanmer Springs with $100 intended by the purchasers, to go towards dinner at Monteiths Fire and Ice or MK Restaurants and entry for two adults into the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools (ca. $120) included. Unfortunately, due to being a busy working mum and caring for an unwell parent, I inadvertently made a reservation at the wrong Tussock Accommodation (Tussock Lodge, Otago - which I have proof of). A completely honest mistake. When I realised what I’d done, contact was made straight away with Tussock Peak, the correct accommodation, to fix the era. We naively believed that under the circumstances Tussock Peak would have been understanding and used their ‘discretion’ to honour the (now) very slightly overdue vouchers. This was not the case. To our absolute shock, we were told by the manager at Tussock Peak in the most abrupt and unkind manner we have ever encountered, that our voucher had expired just 5 days, before and that because we were ‘too late’, they would under no circumstances be honouring the vouchers. We were also made aware that they knew the voucher was due to expire but made no attempt to contact us. As consumers we have always believed that vouchers had an expiry date for uncertain events that may make it difficult for the business to honour, for example liquidation, this is certainly not the case here. The business owner admitted that if I hadn’t made my honest mistake that the business would have accepted the voucher, therefore there was no other reason to prevent them from doing so just 5 days later. We also wonder, were the vouchers for the Hanmer Hot Pools and Restaurants ever purchased or was this money simply pocketed? We are also aware that at least two of these businesses have expiry dates ranging from one to five years. Why were we not offered these in good faith? This business has received a large sum of money for absolutely nothing. This has been an extremely distressing and upsetting experience that we do not want anyone else to experience. If you have any integrity, I would urge you not to support this business. I would definitely recommend you do not buy a voucher from them; they have no moral compass at all.

Brilliant service, friendly owners,lovely rooms with spa bath...bed and pillows the best....will be back again and will book directly..thankyou..nice restaurants and great walking tracks.. the room had awesome information on things to do

We have just returned for a 3 night stay with Tussock. Staff very helpful and so easy to interact with. and engage. Unfortunately I had a cold at the time and infact spent a whole day in the very comfortable bed. Due to a continual Cough I had enough pillows to enable me to prop myself up to try and stop the coughing urge. The location of the Tussock was great and so close to other attractions in the town. Great advice and guidance from staff in recommending restaurant. A great experience and we will visit again. We would recommend you book a ground floor unit if you are in the senior age bracket we are seniors and to carry our luggage up the stairs was a bit of a mission, although staff did ask if we needed help.

We were gifted a very expensive voucher. However after a tragic accident could not go on required dates. We tried to have this voucher honoured after contacting the owner several times and explaining our situation. The voucher expired. We were told no sorry business changed hands and we got nothing. Most businesses will honour a voucher this included tge hot pools meals out etc. We have not received any services at all. Tussock Peak showed no empathy to our situation and offered no alternative other than " no".
