The Newstead Hotel is in a great location across Hamilton Harbour from Front Street. The hotel has comfy beds, excellent AC and nice amenities. The pool overlooks the harbour and is in excellent condition. We have returned many times since our first visit. Staff are friendly and helpful. The water taxi is a great way to get across to Hamilton for dinner and Captain Matt is friendly, kind and entertaining.

What is with this place! I read time and again about guest experiences where they report about some front desk staff that range from beyond nice to downright indifferent, and/or surely. During my stay, my personal experience mirrored all of the forgoing, and more. I had hoped the negative reviews were those of just a few disgruntled guests. Obviously not since the complaints continue to be documented. And if I read once more a reply from management apologizing and promising to do better, I will have a meltdown. The facility itself is a gem. The boat operator is a star. The cleaning staff are like Molly Maid on steroids. If I were one of the time-share owners at Newstead, I would be royally annoyed. So, clearly management is aware of the problems in connection with the front desk , and yet they choose to do nothing. Well, here is the deal. We are returning soon, and if things have not changed, goodbye Newstead. I will not pay the prices they charge only to be once again treated like a nursing home resident.

We really enjoyed our time at the Newstead. Lovely big room with a great view over to Hamilton. Hotel was not too busy and we really liked the infinity pool. Very useful ferry over to Hamilton in the morning and evening: crewed by Matthew who was great fun and very knowledgeable about all things Bermuda. We found the hotel had a nice, chilled out feel to it and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was excellent. We also really appreciated the shuttle bus over to Elbow Beach. We’d love to come back next year.

I will focus on the many positives first. The studio deluxe was on the lower level and had a decent view of the harbor. However, a palm tree partially blocked the middle of the view and the view from the balcony was totally blocked due to a very large privacy bush. A second level studio would have allowed for a much better view. Housekeeping and front desk service was excellent. The Spa was amazing and very relaxing. I had a facial and massage. The food at the Aurora restaurant was very tasty and the waiters and waitress were very friendly. Overall, the appearance of the resort is breathtaking. The major issue for me was that the room had American cockroaches!! The very big and quick ones. Day one I was stunned by the cockroach however felt it was just a random one that got in. Housekeeping sprayed and I thought O.K. problem resolved. However, I was startled by another one the next night as I got out of bed to use the restroom. I screamed so loud my husband was startled. Although hubby is not afraid of the huge cockroaches, I am. I could barely sleep, thinking that the roach would crawl into my bed. I have vacationed at several islands including St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Hawaii and never experienced cockroaches. I will have to lower my review score due to the American Cockroach issue in the studio deluxe. Will book another resort my next stay in the Bermudas!

I spent a week here with my husband and 2 kids, my sister and her husband and 2 kids and my Mother. We had a wonderful week! Bermuda is a beautiful island full of kind people. We will definately be back! Here is the good and bad about Newstead. Good -Location! Right across the harbor from Hamilton. Hotel offers water taxi to and from Hamilton several times a day. They also run a van shuttle to Coco Reef resort. They have a small but beautiful beach with chairs and you can walk to elbow beach from here as well. -Room! We had a 2 bedroom suite. Balcony overlooks the Harbor. Beds, furniture and decor are not fancy but there was plenty of room for all of us and it is comfortable. Having the small kitchen was great so that we didn't have to eat out for every meal. We had groceries delivered. -Housekeeping/Cleanliness! Everything is spotless. -Pool! The infinity pool is gorgeous. -Restaurant and pool bar! Great food and drinks. Even stuff the kids would eat. Bad -The ladies at the front desk are not helpful at all. When we checked in two women were on their cell phones. I stood there for an awkward 10 minutes waiting for them to finish and for one of them to ask if I needed help. I had some resort credit vouchers from the rewards program The Guest Book. I presented them upon check in and neither knew what to do with them or how I was to use them. Even by the end of our stay I had drink vouchers that went unused because no one there could tell me how to properly redeem them. During our stay they were not interested in answering questions about the best way to get to certain parts of the island and often just responded that they didn't know. The day before we checked out I asked for them to schedule 2 taxis to take our group to the airport. They said they would and then didn't do it. We were late getting to the airport. Check out is 11 am. We planned to leave for the airport at noon. The morning of our departure I asked if we could stay in the room until then and I was told we could. Then at 11:30 the front desk called to say that check out was at 11:00. I told her that the other woman at the desk said we could stay until 12 and she told me that she didn't remember telling me that. She said that she had not talked to me that day implying that I was lying. It was just rude. -Rooms need some fixes/updating. No hot water in one of the showers. Oven is not really an oven - more of a microwave/convection oven that didn't work very well. Flooring uneven in spots. Paint needed retouching in spots. Overall this place is great and I probably would not hesitate to stay here again. If it weren't for the behavior of the women at the front desk I would have given a 5 star review. Other members of the staff - doorman, servers, housekeeping, water taxi and shuttle operators - were all wonderfully kind and went above and beyond to be helpful.

I have not been to Bermuda in many years. This resort was a lovely “ surprise” Our suite was feet’s from the water front . I don’t recall if we were 408 or 410. Fabulous views of Hamilton , especially in the eve “ magical” The infinity edge pool and pool bar made our stay !!!! The shuttle service made life very easy . The staff were accommodating and friendly . Our suite has a nice size kitchen well equipped . A quieter atmosphere property . But a quick hop to Hamilton for great dinning etc Very happy with this property Will return .

The Newstead Belmont Resort & Spa property is beautiful and very picturesque. My husband & I shared a one-bedroom suite equipped with a full kitchen, microwave, stove top, dish washer, dining table and chairs, 2 baths and spa like main bathroom. It had a built-in refrigerator, and a stand-alone full-size refrigerator. Luckily the second refrigerator was in working condition. We had panoramic views of the water in both the living room & bedroom that was adjacent to Hamilton. The hotel also offered a free ferry into Hamilton that ran in the mornings, and again after 5pm. The spa offered massages, and I took advantage of the 50-minute Swedish massage. It was very enjoyable but very pricey. Their restaurant called the Aurora offered good food, but they restrict paying guests from utilizing the restaurant when special events were setup. We were not allowed to utilize the restaurant on two occasions, during our stay. That needs to change if they want to remain competitive. Paying guest should always have access to the on-site restaurant. The hotel also does not have a gift shop. It did have a snack closet, so you could get water, juice, and a few snacks. There is a fitness center, but with all the stairs in this resort, you probably won't need to use any of the fitness equipment. The front desk clerks were not very accommodating or eager to share details that would enhance your vacation. A few of the front desk clerks were nice, but a couple were not very friendly nor eager to please. One in particular advised us to take a bus to the Royal Navy Dockyard, when there was a ferry that operated daily for only $5 dollars, after taking their free ferry into Hamilton. The ferry to the Dockyard took only 20 minutes and trips were available all day every day. The hotel didn't offer tours of the island, but they recommend their special taxis for tours. Unfortunately, the hotel's choice was at a higher rate. We decided to engage a regular taxi to give us our tour of the island for $50 dollars an hour, while the hotel engaged taxis that charge $65 dollars an hour, both with a three-hour minimum. Our taxi gave us a great tour and we shared a meal with great conversation. Our main bathroom had a little mildew in the ceiling, and one morning I awoke to find a roach on the countertop. We killed and flushed it, and then advised the front desk to engage an exterminator. Someone was sent to spray the room immediately, so it was handled properly. The shower handle also came off in my husband's hands, while trying to start the shower. Luckily it went back into place without incident. The shower tub was so slick we both almost fell in the tub. We had to request a shower mat. We had to use a towel to get in and out of the tub, until they furnished a bathmat. The pool & jacuzzi were beautiful, but the jacuzzi jets were broken. We had to ask someone to turn on the jets every time we used the jacuzzi. There were also missing tiles in the j

The Belmont is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms and restaurant are overlooking the ocean, with a stunning infinity pool in the middle. There is a simple water ferry which you can take to Hamilton, and shuttles to the beach. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food on site is great! If you want to stay near Hamilton and Port Royal golf course then this hotel is excellent!

We had a really nice stay here. We had an issue with our extremely noisy room neighbours, not the hotel's fault, which the hotel sorted out for us straight away. Really grateful. I don't remember the name of the guy on reception, but he was particularly helpful. I cannot remember the name of the guy who runs the complementary ferry for the hotel but what a nice, friendly, really helpful guy he is! Give him a pay rise!! He gave us some really helpful tips that made our holiday even better. Great tip for whale watching, which was amazing! The ladies at reception were really nice and helpful. The guys that do the shuttle lifts were really nice too. Our room was amazing, literally an apartment! Great free-flowing space for a week. We generally don't spend a great deal of time at our hotels when we are away but this space gave us a great place to relax and chill after a long day exploring. Highly recommend. Carole : )
