The Bay Horse

NEVER COME HERE AT WEEKEND....you will not get a wink of sleep until after 1am The music in the pub downstairs is deafening!!! The room is functional and clean enough, and free parking over the road, but 200 decibels from downstairs is just ridiculous!!

Collect keys from the restaurant over the road, and go round the side of the pub to get to entrance which your greeted with a small easy few stairs to go up. We had a twin bedroom number one, bathroom and bedroom was clean with coffee and tea available. Sky TV was a nice addition. You are above a pub and yes I could hear some of the noise but it stop us sleeping, it made us laugh hearing all the karaoke. Good to hear people have a good time.

More info needed A perfectly good stay. Good location for what we wanted and good price. Check in was a problem which with good comms should’ve been fine. So if you are staying - both parking and check-in are over the road in the “spice” restaurant. Our room was exactly the one in the picture. Basic, clean and did the job.

Perfectly adequate for our requirements Basic but clean Good shower. I imagine it would be noisy on weekends We were out anyway so didn't affect us Easy check.in Parking cross road at restaurant. We were staying for family event so room was used to sleep in only. Main shops etc about 20 minute walk away

It's a clean, basic room above a noisy pub. If you go knowing this then you won't have any issues. Was travelling for business & the cheap price meant the budget would stretch to a 2 night stay instead of 1 night elsewhere & a very early rise. Stayed midweek, quiz downstairs on a Wednesday night. Loud but all wrapped up by around midnight. Not as much noise the next night, just a bit of music that wasn't too loud. I was in room 3 which is directly above the pub. Overall the stay was fine. It's not somewhere you are going to rave about but it's basic and fulfilled it's function. Warm, comfortable, some minor maintenance issues that wouldn't take much to fix e.g. paint on the roller blind, just replace it. As a solo female traveller I was not comfortable with the checkout arrangements which were to leave your keys in your room door. Keyring has the key to your room & the external door. This meant that anyone leaving before me didn't have the facility to lock the external door on leaving. I also found the external door was unlocked a few times on my return during my stay. For the above reason I would not stay again. But if there was some way to remedy that I would.
