A lovely pub with roaring fires and great food. The chips particularly were excellent. Friendly staff. A small selection of board games and a children’s menu. The marmite butter that came with the bread was yummy! Good selection of puddings too.

It has a lovely decor but the food was mixed, especially for the price. The soup for example was quite watery and tasteless. The aubergine satay likewise disappointing. Service was functional but hardly charming. As visitors to the area I'm not sure I'd recommend.

Fun charming stay in a beautiful location The Finch team gathered for us a jug of shampoo to utilise their gorgeous big baths but could have been better if they were already their of a bath bomb etc. We have booked again for Valentines weekend because it very clean, great location, food and drink was great and the service was excellent.

A gem of a place Wonderful one night stay as part of exploring Rutland Water and area over a weekend. Worth staying here for the fabulous food alone (amazing menu and incredibe service). Room was large, clean and comfortable. Lovely peninsula walk (5.5 or 7 mile options) right on the doorstep and a short drive to two nature / bird reserves. Would recommend and we will hopefully be back.

What a great place to stay and eat What a great place! Excellent rooms, great food and drinks. Service was perfect My only gripe was a very squeaky floor in the bedroom

Lovely hotel. Needs a bit of TLC. Lovely location with amazing views from our bedroom. The bar was good but a little pricey. The dinner menu was limited but the food we had was very nice although the liver could have been better prepared. First impression of the room was influenced by the view. Upon closer inspection it was very tired. The bed frame had the covering peeling off and in my opinion needed a new mattress. There were cobwebs and dead flies in the window and all the walls were scuffed. Bathroom looked great but there was black mould in the sealant round the shower cubicle and the shower head was desperately in need of a good clean, or better still, replacement. That’s the bad stuff and having said that we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were great and very helpful. But I wouldn’t say it was four star and £140 for B&B was quite pricey. It’s very difficult to be critical because we did enjoy it but it just needs a bit of TLC and an eye for detail for example, the red and blue decal on the mixer tap was missing - only minor but in a four star you wouldn’t expect that. I know the cold is to the right but I have been in hotels where it’s been swapped round - so very pedantic of me. I get that following the pandemic funds are going to be tight and appreciate that they will want to improve but these things take time. Downstairs was very good. Overall we had a great stay.
