Perfection We have stayed here several times in different rooms over the last few years. It has been consistently good. Delicious food, comfort and amazing staff. (Ignore recent reviews on this site). Yes it is ‘traditional’ not ‘buzzy’ and does attract a more mature crowd but that is what makes it great. It is the perfect place to go and switch off from the world. The gardens are wonderful and the swimming pool the perfect temperature and beautifully maintained . If you like delicious healthy food and an amazing experience you can do no better.

Stayed as part of a family celebration. We had a fantastic meal in the private dining room where we were looked after famously by the staff throughout the evening. All round, an excellent experience

Lovely location/property but food or service not up to scratch. I just had my first overnight stay at Hambleton Hall last week with my business partner. We booked a room with dinner included, which was not cheap but what you would expect to pay for a quality luxury experience. We are both regular customers at The Ritz, Claridge's, Scott's Mayfair etc and other London quality eateries/hotels, so understand the joy of good food, wine and impeccable service. The hotel, location and room were amazing and the gardens/setting wonderful. The service and the food though, was not up to expectations for us, sadly. We waited to be served drinks on the terrace upon arrival for a good 10 minutes but in the end had to step inside ourselves to find a server to take our order. I am a vegan but my business partner is not, so he experienced the full menu over dinner. The wine was not poured once during the meal but plonked on the table as the waiters were clearing and setting up empty tables around us before we had finished dining. The crab starter was bland and the salad starter very poor but the rest of the vegan offering was good. The cheese board was extensive but the portions were rationed by the server. We were not asked if we wanted more wine, as the empty bottle sat on the table for ages plus not offered any after dinner drinks. The service was truly terrible over dinner and the atmosphere in the dining area was deathly quiet with zero atmosphere. We retired in the end to the bar area to get away from the servers clearing and setting up tables in the restaurant around us to get an after dinner drink. The barman was busy washing glasses, as we waited 20 minutes to be served, even though the bar was empty, so in the end, we left without drinks. In his reply to my feedback, the owner asked why we didn't just catch his attention but by this time we were a little fed up with a lack of attention to detail. We actually felt like we were an invisible inconvenience with money to spend but no one willing to serve us for it. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were watery and tasteless and the service slow and unenthusiastic. I wanted to talk to the reception staff before we left when paying the bill but she was dealing with checkouts in a very small area that felt like Piccadilly circus. her own words, so I left it to deal with later. I decided to write to the owner NOT for a freebie or refund but to give some honest feedback, rather than write a poor review on here. He wrote back after investigating my feedback projecting with excuses and somewhat dismissing our disappointment as not what others normally say about the hotel and service. This to be honest annoyed me and was not humble or caring, so I am writing the review. It is a beautiful property, a little dated with in my opinion, poor service, inexperienced staff and in our case, on this occasion, over priced and disappointing for the anticipated experience. I would not return for another stay because my compl

We booked an overnight stay for the day after our wedding (our minimoon). We booked The Willow Room which was £595.00 pp incl. breakfast. The room was very well appointed with beautiful views over Rutland Water. Whilst we were very happy with the room, I had to ask for body lotion as there was only one tiny bottle in the room. We also didn’t know where the slippers were (hidden in a drawer) and that was another trip to reception. Neither of these things are ‘major’ but at this price point I would have expected perfection. The evening meal was over seasoned (particularly my husband’s) the wine waiter was rude and was completely unhelpful, e.g. when asking for advice, his manner was somewhat dismissive and he stated, you need to be quick as I have other people to serve….., not the service that I have come to expect from Michelin star establishments. The breakfast (which we had as room service) was average at best, again, over seasoned.. This was not our first visit and would we return? Probably not, alas Hambleton is living on its previous reputation and didn’t make us feel special at all, despite our final bill being almost £1000.00 for a one night’s stay.

Another lovely stay at Hambleton Hall. We are always made to feel welcome at this very homely hotel. The food as always was absolutely superb and the service friendly and welcoming. We’ve been here with extended family in the summer and enjoyed swimming in the pool and walking around the lake. We’ve been here for New Year’s Eve on two occasions and my wife and I have stayed here as a couple and with our two dogs. We have always felt very welcome and the staff do everything they can to accommodate requests. Looking forward to our next stay when we might even consider bringing our young children.

Went here as a couple and met our friends for a celebration meal. It's somewhere we've been wanting to try for some time. Wow it didn't disappoint. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. Drinks on the terrace, the view, drinks, staff, menu's, food but most importantly the attention to detail. The whole table were so impressed with my Lemon Souffle for desert! It was a masterpiece. If you are looking for something a little different for a special occasion this place will not disappoint. Of course something like this isn't cheap, but hugely enjoyed it.

We stopped off for drinks in the garden, we ordered just a pint and a gin and tonic. Jaw droppingly, ludicrously expensive for 2 drinks.....£32 + £4 service charge, are you crazy!!!!!!!!! Safe to say that this has been a negative experience and won't be recommending nor returning.

Having lived in South Lincs for 45 years for some reason we have never visited Hambleton Hall before. We were not sure what to expect however from the moment we arrived at reception all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The location especially on a beautiful day is superb. The gardens are very pretty and the old house is full of interesting artifacts The Lunch for Less menu is quite restricted. However the choices available were superb, both in appearance, taste and a sensible amount. Not too much not too little. Overall a wonderful experiance to be saved for the special occasion as it is very expensive but on that occasion (my birthday) WOW
