Perfect Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. This is the 5th time we have been and will definitely be returning. The rooms are immaculate and the food is gorgeous. The staff make us feel so welcome every time.

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. After a warm welcome we were shown to our room which was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Our evening meal and the choice on the menu was amazing and breakfast the following morning was excellent. The staff and in particular the lady who showed us to our room, served us at the bar and at our table both in the evening and in the morning were very helpful and friendly. Many thanks.

Brilliant stop if you need to break up your journey on the A1. Room wasn't too hot and was well decorated and very quiet. Shower was great and we felt fully rested after our night stay. Breakfast was just what we needed and served with a friendly smile.

We wanted to give some constructive feedback privately by email to The Green Dragon in Exelby first in the hope that they would at least knowledge our email. However, they obviously felt it was not within their remit to even knowledge us. This feedback was given to them to which we hoped they would find it of some use for any future clientele. We booked a one-night stay for the King-Deluxe-Ensuite with Shower-Street View room. My husband also confirmed by telephone with one of their colleagues that we would be bringing our dog and that we also required a table booking for dinner that evening. Having arrived at The Green Dragon at roughly 3:30pm we were shown to our room, by one of their work colleagues. The first thing we were uncomfortably aware of when entering the bedroom was the incredibly chilly temperature, which was not at all welcoming. The work colleague, at the time, made a passing comment to herself about some particular bedding that was now on the bed. The colleague withdrew and on our further inspection of the room and also the joining shower room they had an unpleasant aroma of dampness/mustiness. On the bed were placed two bath towels and two hand towels, which turned out to be emanating a repellent mustiness aroma too. The bedroom wall behind the sofa, which I believe was a north-facing wall showed signs of dampness due to the bubbling of the paintwork. We appreciate that the building/The Green Dragon is of some age but living in a property of that age ourselves we have no damp issues and should there be would act upon that promptly. My husband decided to take our dog for a walk however, I decided I wanted to relax and read my book so remained in the room. The radiator in our room had a temperature one could only describe as tepid to the point that the only way to feel any warmth was to resort to getting under the bedcoverings. My husband returned from taking his walk and phoned me, from the bar to ask me to join him. Having thought this would give me the opportunity to warm up in front of one of their wood-burning stoves I was considerably disappointed as neither of these were lit and showed no indication that they would be done so over our stay. Had the towels in the room smelt rather more agreeable that I would have wanted to use them on my torso I would have decided to have a shower, in the hope of warming myself up. My husband resorted to sleeping in a day shirt that night as we fought to sleep on a rather thin uncomfortable mattress. Breakfast was rather a let-down and appeared rather anaemic and to a degree only warm in temperature. All in all, we had looked forward to our weekend away but the collective of events made our overnight stay at The Green Dragon in Exelby a rather disappointing one. Given the information detailed on their website that they are a “community owned country pub” perhaps the investors have a desire to see a good return on their investments. We liked the idea of t

Stayed here with friends in Nov 22 and found everything to be first class. Bedrooms were lovely and bathrooms excellent. Lovely friendly staff who had no trouble providing anything we requested including special dietary requirements. Breakfast was quality produce and very filling. Would highly recommend a stay.

Great cosy pub, food really nice and staff are lovely. We stayed in a room here in august and thought we’d return. Rooms are clean and decorated well. Only issue this time was that it was freezing all night in the room. Radiator has a sign saying please do not touch so had no idea how to get the room warm.
