Wow! What an amazing place, absolutely fantastic! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous. The hut was a restful and luxurious room rather than a hut. Food was so good, fresh and well presented. Sundowner drinks were sociable and the staff were friendly and helpful during that time. Safaris provided by the hotel were great - jeeps were comfortable and powerful and ranger tried hard to make it successful. Our stay was further enhanced by a large bull elephant visiting the pond by reception for a drink. An amazing and unique experience.

Wir können diese Hotel ausnahmslos empfehlen! Ja, es ist hochpreisig - allerdings spiegelt sich der Preis absolut im Aufenthalt wieder - es bleiben keine Wünsche offen!! Das Hotel hat nach unserer Auffassung 6 Sterne verdient. Neben der Lage, der Organisation inkl. Durchführung der Safaris, den Mahlzeiten sowie dem exzellentem Service vor Ort sind auch die Huts überwältigend. Die Gestaltung/Interieure des gesamten Hotels ist sehr durchdacht und imposant! Allerdings möchten wir den Service und die Menschen hervorheben, welche dem Hotel den letzten exzellenten Schliff verleihen! Wir waren vom 28.12. - 31-12.2024 - im Rahmen einer eigens organisierten Rundreise - vor Ort und haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Gerne wären wir noch länger geblieben.....aber es gibt so viel Tolles in Sri Lanka zu erleben. Zudem möchten wir insbesondere sehr positiv die Safaris erwähnen - wir haben jede dieser Möglichkeit genutzt und wir wurden belohnt. Deshalb waren wir ja auch hier - es war einfach grandios .... die Aufzählung an Tiersichtungen würde den Rahmen sprengen ;-) Und ja, Elefanten und Leoparden waren dabei! Der Service und die Qualität - in vielerlei Belangen - haben wir bisher selten erleben dürfen! Nochmals einen großen Dank an das gesamte Team! Wir können niemanden hervorheben - we were falling in love with all of you! Wenn Yala, dann werden wir dieses Hotel 100%ig wieder wählen - ja auch für den Preis. Und ja, wir kommen wieder!

We only had two nights at Uga Chena. Suggest staying at least three to really enjoy the facilities! Our private pool was divine and we didn’t spend enough time lazing by it as we were busy doing wonderful game drives. The one morning we did have to spend poolside a large elephant strolled by our hut and gave us the experience of a lifetime. We have been on several safaris but never had the chance to be so close to a wild animal and get such closeup photos. It was truly special. The staff and our ranger went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. Highly recommended!

Cet établissement installé dans la réserve de Yala est tout simplement magnifique. Les animaux de la réserve sont libre de venir (éléphant, varans, chipmunk…) viennent jusqu’à vous. Le safari de 3h qui est proposé est une très belle expérience. Les villas avec piscine sont splendide, et que dire des menus gastronomique tous les soirs (homards, Wagiu,…) En un mot, INCONTOURNABLE !

What an experience. Arrived to a personal welcome - placing flag of UK on the board to see the International appeal. The room was beautiful and very spacious - one of the 4 new rooms with own pool. Golf buggies whisk you from room to reception although it’s fine to walk during the daytime. We were assigned a butler who was always on hand and couldn’t do enough for us - the mini bar miniature wines didn’t quite cut it and appreciated the full size bottle exchange! The chef needs special mention. Incredible food and very grateful to him for the curry cooking lesson. The blackened curries are superb. Drinks on the beach were a special treat at sunset (although a wandering elephant prevented this on night 2!) Special mention also for grilled lobster dish The general manager always attentive and friendly making sure everything just right. Rangers are very knowledgeable - ours qualified in S Africa The safari drive also very well organised in excellent Toyota go anywhere vehicle - leopard eventually seen after much deep jungle road exploring ! The hotel even pays for “fast track” Any criticism ? Only one very minor- the all inclusive wine only just acceptable. For an extra £5-£10 a bottle purchase price could improve this as did let down the meal slightly. Think cloudy bay standard to really up the game Not a complaint but hope this helps. Thanks for everyone.

What a beautiful and welcoming place! From the moment you are warmly welcomed (thank you Druzell!) until the moment you sadly need to leave, everything about Uga Chena Huts is enjoyable. The name “Huts” really is an understatement for the very spacious cabanas, each with private plunge pool. The food was lovely and each member of staff is SO friendly! Of special note were Kasun (waiter) and of course our very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced safari guide Janith. THANK you for a fantastic experience!!!
