Une belle surprise lors de notre road trip au Sri Lanka. La propriétaire est d'une gentillesse exceptionnelle et une cuisinière de renom qui donne des cours de cuisine! La chambre était très bien et le lieu très agréable car au bord de l'eau. Merci pour le prêt de tapis pour ma séance journalière de yoga!

This homestay is not central but is quirky and charming with lovely river views. On arrival you are greeted by very friendly people and a big soppy Labrador. I love dogs but be aware in case you don’t. The room was large with a thatched bathroom. Good Mosi curtains provided . Water is filtered so no plastic bottles which is a big tick. The only downside is that the door to the room is glassed so the landing light shone through which was annoying as can be seen from bed and disturbed sleep . I switched the landing light off but it did not stay off. Perhaps a door curtain could be installed? Dining was on a covered terrace overlooking the river . In the morning little squirrels were running around which was cute. Arrived when it was dark so I can’t say what was around in the area but there did not seem to be a lot so eat before you arrive or accept you must eat at the accommodation. Eating there is no loss however - supper was delicious. Supper was served as a buffet in a traditional styled kitchen and the food was all good. The aubergine curry was outstanding. Breakfast was extremely modest which surprised me. I am not sure if I missed something , misunderstood or it was not all out but basically all I got to eat was fruit and curd so was left feeling hungry. Overall a lovely stay though and one of my favourite places I stayed when in Sri Lanka.

We visited Thotopula for a cookery lesson. It was highly enjoyable, interesting and amusing. We are excited about trying to do this at home. Sulochana was an excellent teacher, who tailored her lessons to appropriately stretch her students. This was one of our favourite experiences so far in Sri Lanka. 100% recommended. Plus, you get to eat the food too! Best curry ever. The aubergine curry was gorgeous. Thank you Sulochana.

Un endroit très charmant avec une vue magnifique! Nous avons la sensation de vivre chez l’habitant tout en ayant notre intimité comme à l’hôtel. Les personnes sont bienveillantes. La propriétaire est comme une maman avec nous. L’endroit est proche du centre ville ce qui permet d’avoir la tranquillité tout en étant proche du centre ville si on prend un tuk tuk. Les chambres sont très propres et nous avons tout le confort pour profiter. Je recommande à 100% l’endroit. De plus, la propriétaire propose un cour de cuisine local. À ne pas manquer!

A great, fun and educational experience with a tasty meal at the end of it! I learnt a lot and enjoyed the cooking class, was given lots of information and tips and thoroughly enjoyed myself. From the basics of splitting a coconut and grinding the flesh, making milk and cream, grinding spices, knowing how to pair things so they look good on your plate and categorising your vegetables, I learnt a lot in 90 mins or so. But Sulochana made it very enjoyable too and we had a lot of laughs (mostly at my expense! ). I was the only one to attend on my morning so missed on the group experience but had the benefit of one-on-one tuition which was brilliant. A lovely lady as were her assistants and the setting is beautiful too with lovely views from the garden across the river. I’d love to stay in the accommodation there if I’m ever lucky enough to travel to Sri Lanka again.

Jolie petite maisonnette sans pretention au bord de la riviere, dans les arbres, avec plein d’animaux qui rejouissent les enfants (lapin, paons, oiseaux de proie, poisson, chien etc.) Un peu en dehors de kandy (30 min car il y a beaucoup de traffic) Le cours de cuisine local proposé par la prorietaire, charmante, est excellent. C’est l’un des rares endroits du pays où nous avons tres bien mangé. Maintenant, les chambres sont basiques, il n y avait pas d eau chaude Lors de notre passage, et l hotel est tres bruyant : paons qui sautent sur le toit en hurlant a 6am, jardiniers et travaux qui commencent peu apres…. La proprietaire est rarement là semble t il, et si son staff est absolument adorable, ils n’ont pas vraiment de notions d’hotellerie. Dommage. Le prix est un peu élevé aussi au vu de ces commentaires.

A place with a lot of personality, the food was absolut so deliciuos. They made what we wanted for breakfast and dinnner. The food was homemade and the stuff was so lovely! Recomend it to everyone who loves a place with personality.
