Mount Athos Resort

1) The hotel is new with excellent rooms. It also has excellent outdoor and indoor spaces. 2) I gave 4 instead of 5 to the location because the sea in front of the hotel has rocks and is very cloudy. When I say rocks, I mean lots of rocks, small, big and sharp. In a word, the sea is bad. 3) I gave 4 instead of 5 to the service because I was not informed at check in about the sharp rocks. I was cut badly by the rocks. You can only swim with beach shoes. 4) At the hotel restaurant, we ate pizza with mushrooms. The pizza was not eaten. Unacceptable for a 5* hotel. 5) There are beaches near the hotel, about 500 meters away, that you can go to with your car. They have sand, no stones, they are crystal clear, you can see everything at the bottom and they are not very crowded. 6) The breakfast is fantastic. It even has things you didn't think of. Would I go back to the hotel? Of course yes. I will swim in the nearby beaches and eat in the village of Ierissos. It's an excellent hotel, but a bit expensive.

What an absolutely lovely hotel, the views are amazing, very clean and comfortable, very quiet, rooms are very comfortable nice big modern bathroom again very clean, powerful shower, hairdryer is just standard hotel bathroom hairdryer so being your own, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and happy to supply extra coat hangers, patio nice size, sea view, we were room 414, and patio furniture very nice and comfortable, hotel staff from reception to bar and restaurant staff lovely always a smile and particularly Marian as soon as she spotted us coming for lunch she'd move our table into the shade, made us feel special which was lovely, we had lunch there every day and the food was excellent, two pools both nice , comfy loungers and not crowded plenty of personal space, both pools quiet no loud music, amazing views over the bay, went for walk on beach couple of times, narrow beach and parts back to back loungers but if you like to be on the beach you can find nice areas to put a towel down, the steps are fine just take your time or you can go down the road but it's still a steep walk, and there's a couple of bars and a restaurant down there, afitos is nice easy 15 min walk, town is nice maybe slightly on the touristy side but not tacky at all, no noisy bars blaring out music, went to different restaurant every night and they where all good 2 courses with wine for 2 averaged about 45 to 60 euros, overall a fantastic holiday and would be very happy to go again
Simantro Resort

This was our 17th time to Simantro. We used to go when it was ”Simantro Beach Hotel” and was All-Inclusive. However, we decided to try the new ”Simantro Resort”, which is Half Board (breakfast and evening meal). There was a new little cafe on site selling sandwiches, salads, etc, if we needed something to eat lunch times. The food in the restaurant is much better. There is lots of choice and it's of a high quality. Drinking water is free at all meal times. The staff are mainly new, but it was nice to see some of the familiar faces still working there. Happiness, Nicole and Angela in the restaurant were very helpful, so thank you to them :-) In the bathroom, there is nice smelling olive oil soap, shampoo and conditioner, which was regularly topped up by the cleaners (who are lovely ladies). The beach has new sturdy sunbeds, which are comfortable and included in the price. Unfortunately, many guests do not pay any attention to the ”no towels on sunbeds before 9.30am” rule. One night there was a bad storm. I helped the staff put the sunbeds back, as they had been blown about the beach. The next morning, I walked to the beach and thought it was funny as probably over 100 towels were ruined, where people left them on the sunbeds the night before! One bad thing - the Government now charge 10 Euros per night for ”hotel tax”! All in all, we had another great holiday at Simantro. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us :-)

Lovely hotel well equipped. Bedroom had kettle with tea and coffee items. Bathroom had a bath with shower and soap conditioner shower gel. Also a retractable clothes line if needed. 2 large wardrobes one had safe in it. Robes and slippers provided. I had booked a sea or marina view and got sea view room. Which also looked out over the swimming pools. Large bed which was extremely comfortable nice and firm. Table with 1 chair. Dressing unit had large puffer. Large patio with small table and 2 chairs. I opted for all inclusive food package and pleased I did. Had option to dine for 3 lactate meals, could be taken for lunch or dinner. This also gave me large water in room on daily basis. Food for buffet service I found good choice although it was never hot. For me that was perfect. Staff all friendly and helpful especially the waiting teams and guest customer service. Room cleaned daily and no issues on standards. As it was last week a lot of shops closed and also some bars and restaurant’s which was slightly dissapointing. Had thought as at Marina that lot more to see again closed. Great short walks around easy to get into town and water taxi reasonable at 4euro each way.

Stayed here for 11 nights in a Superior double room. If we could give 4.5 stars to this wonderful hotel we would! The views from our balcony, from the restaurant & from around the pool area are absolutely stunning. Our room was comfortable but a little tired & in need of an upgrade. There was plenty of selection for breakfast however the hot food was not hot. This was noted by other guests too & seemed to be due to the air-conditioning running very high & the system to keep the food hot being ineffective. The staff are all an absolute credit to the hotel. Everyone is very friendly & always smiling. Special mention to Stella, Tila, Georgia & Daniella. We walked down to the beach via the steps next to Notos & back up the road via the village. This is a gradual walk uphill with places to stop & sit enroute & then a much needed stop off in the square in beautuful Afitos for a drink! We will definitely return!
