New Horizon Hotel

The owner tried to cancel our reservation 2 days prior. Claimed he forgot to cancel sooner and that he overbooked. He also said it was very busy with local tourists there and it would be loud. We could not find a different place for the same amount with the same stars as we had booked 4 months early. All prices were doubled or tripled. He honored our reservation but when we arrived the A/C was not cold ever and it shut off automatically after being on for 45 minutes. Thankfully there was a single fan we shared as a family. It was 100 humidity! The lobby also functions as a restaurant so he booked a huge party as we checked out and told us we could not wait in the lobby/restaurant for our bus pickup that was scheduled to pick us up at our hotel within 30 minutes. we had to change pickup location last minute and haul our luggage elsewhere. Also, the hotel is called Tammy Hotel but then it is also called Horizon Hotel and we also had a different hotel name on our towels. We were told by a tour guide that if owners of a hotel get a bad review they will try to change the name of the hotel to confuse people so they cannot find it. Just a FYI.

Great staff clean rooms

We loved our stay at new horizon! The staff were so friendly and helpful and always welcomed us with a smile. The rooms were modern, clean and spacious. The shower was powerful and had a glass divider between the rest of the room (uncommon in Vietnam, so a treat). Breakfast was delicious and there were various options. Aircon and WiFi worked very well. Would definitely recommend this place in cat ba. It’s near enough to the main front and beaches but a 5 minute walk away so nice and quiet at night. No downsides we can think of.
