Staff have been so kind and have really looked after me. I missed my Kilimanjaro trek unfortunately due to illness on the day of departure. Hotel is basic but very clean and good food. I’d stay again. It is a 15 minute drive from Moshi but hotel can arrange transport if required.

Everyone here made us feel so welcome and safe. The food was top-notch. They help set up excursions. Able to even buy souvenirs and local artwork. I highly recommend this place. Thank you, Teddy and Innocent. The profit even goes to support the school next-door. The children are beautiful.

I really enjoyed spending time at this hotel. The staff are very welcoming and wonderful people to be around. The staff made sure that I had a shuttle to go around town and a safe way to get there, had a secure place to store the remaining luggage, and they made delicious food for breakfast and at the restaurant. I would highly recommend to stay at the Stella Maris Lodge.

Stayed here on each end of our 10 day Lemosho route summit of Kilimanjaro. Rooms were clean and the staff were great. Onsite restaurant was good with a broad menu of offerings. On return from our trek the staff quickly cleaned our laundry and shoes to enable us to continue on to our safari.

Stayed here before and after climbing Kilimanjaro. The staff is extremely helpful and they offer great service. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and have great AC. All beds have mosquito nets (although I have not seen any mosquitos). The on site restaurant offers a great selection of dishes; I have eaten there 5 times and all dishes were delicious. The hotel is attached to and all proceeds support a middle school. I highly recommend a stay here.

Great stay before Kilimanjaro trek!
I booked one night here before joining my trekking group the next day. Hotel staff is the friendliest I have ever encountered. My room was clean and comfortable. Water needed to be heated up about 15 minutes before your shower but it is a minor inconvenience. Breakfast was huge and delicious. I look forward to the fresh fruit and smoothie every morning. The hotel donates/supports the nearby school as well. I would definitely recommend Stella Maris.

At Stella Maris, You Are Family
The people that work at Stella Maris are wonderful and really set this place apart from other options. I stayed here for 6 nights around a Kilimanjaro trek and it was a very comfortable and warm stay. The staff are friendly and caring and it very quickly felt like my home away from home. The food was also delicious and I appreciated the mission of the hotel+school. If I'm ever back in the Moshi/Arusha area, I'll be looking to stay here again. Be aware that the power does go out in Tanzania from time to time, so it's best to be prepared for that.

Great Jumping Off Point For Kili
Really friendly staff keen to make sure you are happy - a great jumping off point for climbing KIlimanjaro
Non for profit set up that funds the school in front of the hotel (which also means the road noise is kept to a min)
