A warm welcome on arrival with staff carrying our golf bags to safe storage. Our room on the top floor was clean and spacious with comfortable twin beds. Good quality bedding and towels. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast each morning and dined in the downstairs bar each evening. The evening meals on offer were varied and of generous portions. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found every member of the staff to be friendly and helpful

Fabulous place to stay. My husband and I stayed 2 nights. Room absolutely lovely, decorated to a high standard. Excellent ensuite facilities. Glass bottles of water in the room, nice touch. Complimentary tea, coffee and chocolates. Craig and Anna, terrific hosts, welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts and evening meal were superb. All staff friendly and helpful. Bustling bar in evening, warm and welcoming, seating and tables outside to catch evening sunshine. Highly recommend this centrally situated hotel. We were at an event at the Corn Exchange, a one minute walk! Perfect all round. We will definitely be back again and again.

Staff lovely. Breakfast menu delicious but limited. Bar area very nice. Good central position. Good heating which was easy to control. In spite of central location and single glazed sash window it was quiet at night. But for £100 a night including breakfast the room was awful. It was accessed up two steep stairs from the street with a dirty carpet, poor lighting and a bend on the stair with no handrail. Our room 2 was small and awkward to get around. It had a paper central light similar to one I bought in 1970 only this one was adorned with cobwebs as was the radiator in the bedroom. There was a tiny flat screen tv but no telephone. Not that there was anyone to phone if something went wrong because the staff left the pub at closing time and didn't come back till the morning. The bathroom sported an over bath shower with a plastic shower curtain reminiscent of the Bates Motel. I spilled a little water on the floor and wiped it up with toilet paper. It came up black. The bath had a tell tale mark on it where previous users ( more than one or two) had put the soap. I couldn't bring myself to use the shower or walk barefoot on the bathroom floor. The proprietor told us it was renovated 3 years ago. I don't think our room was. The stair carpet may have been 3 years old but it was cheap and very dirty. Overall it wouldn't have been so bad if the cost had been around £60 for b&b but very overpriced for what it was. We were attending a local wedding so fortunately didn't have to stay long in the room but would not have stayed a second night if we didn't have to. I will definitely not be back. Nor could I recommend this to anyone.

There are good things about the accommodation; huge room, massive en suite, central location, real bath. However, there is no parking, the rooms are very basic especially given the price, there's a lot of traffic noise and the mattress was very uncomfortable. The rooms are accessed via a separate doorway off the street and up some stairs. I think the kitchen is adjacent as there were food smells.

Ate here twice. First time had broiled halibut that was perfectly done. [it's usually overcooked]. The second time I had the duck breast with asparagus on a bed of spinach; it was beautiful and very nice. Ample portions. The service was outstanding, too.

Stayed over for 2 nights whilst visiting family. Craig and Anna were very welcoming which set the tone for a lovely couple of days. Rooms had been recently renovated and were of a very good size with excellent facilities. Lovely touches with fluffy towels and the bonus of slippers provided. Large TV with Sky and TNT sports. Breakfast was cooked really well with plenty of choice. Brother is a vegan and he was well catered for at short notice, very grateful! The bar is lively with a good atmosphere and the food was really good. Well recommended for those that need a base to explore East Lothian and Edinburgh. Hotel is 5 mins off the A1.

We had lunch and drinks outside in the sunshine. We were served by a very helpful and polite lady (blonde hair in bunches). The food was lovely. We had Scottish burger and a couple of tapas plates. We will definitely go back here and recommend highly.

Had lunch here on 10th March. We had a lovely lunch, the menu was extensive, and we enjoyed our chat with the owner/manager. The food was freshly cooked and delicious and there was a nice atmosphere. Will be recommending to friends and will definitely be returning in the near future.

My husband and I spent an unexpected couple of hours at the Victoria Inn as the restaurant in the hotel we were staying at was closed. What a find. Delicious food and good local beer in a friendly and welcoming environment. Outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended.
