Outstanding
GGuest UserSmall and cute place to be. Once you get to the train station or bus stop, give them a call and they will come pick you up. You can walk if you want, but it does go uphill a little bit if you have suitcase with you. Staff is really nice and accommodating. We did have one of our friends ending up pregnant on the trip after we had booked the trip and she was not able to eat many of the foods. They were really nice and worked with what she could eat and even gave her a little omamori (like a charm) for her healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. Would recommend to others. The individual onsen in each room is wonderful and if you want to have more people gather together, get the bigger rooms. Mt. Fuji is visible but understand that it depends on time of day and season. Due to the smaller space, there is only one area to gather downstairs, which is also where you check in. Not a big deal for us, but for those who wants like a whole area to walk around in the hotel, then may want to look at those bigger hotels.
AAVNN HolidayMy stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was impeccable. The ryokan features private onsen that can be booked in advance, offering an intimate and serene experience. Soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing at the surrounding natural beauty was a highlight of the trip.
The ryokan’s free shuttle service made exploring the area incredibly convenient. We were easily transported to the iconic Snow Monkey Park, the nearby train station, and other local attractions, which added to the seamless experience.
The dining experience was nothing short of spectacular. Both private breakfast and dinner were served in a tranquil setting, with beautifully prepared dishes showcasing the best of seasonal and local ingredients. The flavors were authentic and delicious,
GGuest UserLocated just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!
AAnonymous UserIt's a 10 mins walk uphill from train station so maybe better to try to contact them for a complimentary pick up.
The place is super grand and 2 onsens. A Instagram worthy one that the males and females get to use it at different timings. The shower stuff in the onsen are mediocre though. No fancy facial stuff for women unlike some other onsens at this price range.
We had breakfast and dinner for the 2 nights. And well worth it. But you have to follow a fixed timing and we felt a bit rushed but otherwise it was really great and service perfect.
We had one the biggest rooms I believe Room 716. Had a sitting area and also a sleeping area. Easily fits 8 persons. We were only 2. In the day they kept the futons and brought it out at night. Towels changed every night.
There is a van that goes straight to Mount Yokoteyama ski resort. The receptionist didn't seem to know about it but you could try to Google. It was a complimentary ride to and fro if you bought the lift tickets. Took only like 30 mins to get there. You can get rentals at hotels there.
YYvesPI only stayed one night in this beautiful ryokan and in Yamanouchi but I could easily have stayed longer, as there seems to have trekking opportunities in the area. The ryokan itself is great on all levels: clean, quiet at night and has an authentic feel. The staff is very helpful and speaks fluent English. When you arrive, it will provide you with traditional Japanese clothing in which you'll wander by the streets, go to restaurants and most importantly, explore the 9 public and free onsen in the village. I slept in a 3 bed dormitory and hadn't slept so well for several days. A free shuttle service will bring you to the next bus station (perhaps train station as well)
EElinaNikIt was brilliant!
It is the same with pictures on this site.
They gave me yukata and towel and changed it every day. I had a tea and enjoyed it on my balcony. I tried a futon at first time in my life.
I had my own reserved table for breakfast.
❗❗❗The hotel has its own bus with driver, which took me to the Snow Monkey Park and to the station for free!
Actually staff was so polite! It is seems like you are someone important.
Actually the only one minus that you can't go to all 9 Shibu Onsen's baths, but just to 9th bath only. But the hotel has its own bath even open-air.
It was really nice and comfortable accommodation.
AAnonymous UserThe location is perfect!! Just at the bus stop. But if you are skiing somewhere at Okushiga, better take the earlier buses. It was so crowded by the time it got to our stop we could not get up.
Our room had a view of the mountains so we were really happy waking up to a winter scene. Room was huge so easily fit 4 pax.
Breakfast was functional but that area really had not much food around so better to eat at the hotel. For dinners the food trucks are just opposite so really convenient. Also some shabu shabu places opposite the hotel as well as a yamazaki store and yakiniku too.
There was a rental shop at hotel but really basic. Don't expect too much.
The bath was also average only. Nothing fancy. The place has no body lotion so be aware!
GGuest UserStayed in Japanese style room. Plenty big enough for three. Pillows were rock hard but futons comfy. No english channels on tv.
Shared bath house which was great. Stayed start April so most restaurant and shops shut, very little choice.
Had buffet breakfast at hotel which had good variety . would recommend hotel if you can pick up a deal.
straight across the road from inchiose skifield but very limited lifts open and actually walked about 15 minutes down the road to other fields with a lot more lifts running. As spring we were able to catch chairlift for free to then ski down to gondola to buy lift tickets. Good skiing on Olympic courses.
RReginaWe initially couldn't secure rooms with en-suite bathrooms, but we were pleasantly surprised by how clean both the shared bathrooms and rooms were. The onsen was a delightful feature, offering both indoor and outdoor baths. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and responsive, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent, and the location is very convenient—just a short walk to Nozawa Onsen town and close to the ski park. We had such a great time and will definitely be returning!
PPangI am from Hong Kong, but I did not stay in this hotel. Originally I booked Villa Ichinose, but 3 days before departure I received an email from Villa Ichinose saying that due to a problem with the room's machinery, they would arrange to move me to another hotel called Mount Shiga. I stayed in a tatami room in that hotel and there were no chairs. After skiing all day, I had to sit on a mattress on the ground to rest. I need an extra pillow to make my lower back more comfortable. When I opened the door where the pillows and quilts were placed and took out a pillow, I was stunned. The pillow was dirty, full of saliva stains, yellow and moldy. I believe it hadn't been cleaned for at least a month to be so dirty and noticeable. Such sanitary conditions make me very uneasy. I took pictures of the pillow and room key to prove it. My main point is that the person in charge of Villa Ichinose should not have transferred me to a very old and unhygienic hotel. I can't comment on other aspects because I didn't stay there. But the location is very good, right next to the Ichinose bus stop, and the hotel environment is nice (because I was going to this hotel to pick up my snowboard bag, so I went in to take a look).
