******** OVERVIEW ******* This historic brownstone is over 100 years old with its quaint and charming details and quirks. The apartment has an old style “railroad” layout, meaning the rooms are one after another. You will enter into the big bedroom, and walk through the other two bedrooms before arriving in the living room and kitchen. The historic wooden pocket doors separate the rooms. Yes, the doors will creak when you close them and there are no locks on each bedroom. You're in a historic home with old hardwood floors and decor, while providing modern comfort including a renovated bathroom. Please note you’ll need to walk through the bedrooms to get to the living room and bathroom. The kitchen opens up to the backyard, where you can use our fire pit. The yard is shared with us as we can access it from our unit upstairs, though we don’t use it very often. We do have a friendly Labrador retriever who you may see once in a while :) ******** PARKING ******* We rent a parking spot at the lot next door. If you'd like parking, there's a fee of $25 per 24 hours and you must let us know beforehand so we can reserve it for you. Please note ONLY standard sedans are permitted. The spot may or may not be available during your stay. Please include your car's make and model in your request when reserving the spot and pay the fee directly from your reservation. For parking during the day, please download the ParkMobile app on your phone beforehand so you can add time We highly recommend NOT bringing a car. It's very easy to get around, both to NYC and within NJ. A one-way bus ticket to midtown Manhattan costs $4.10 and will take no more than half an hour from our door. Buses run 24 hours a day. It can be tough to find parking in this area. The property was charming and in a great location. The neighbors has a bunch of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Lily and Szymon answer messages almost immediately and were helpful with my questions about public transport etc. however, my favorite part about this property is the skyline view of NY, absolutely stunning! I would definitely stay here again.

I was very disappointed with this stay. Ants were crawling on me in bed—I kept killing tiny bugs on my arms and legs before realizing they were ants. Seeing ants in the house is one thing, but crawling on you in your bed is truly unsettling. To make matters worse, due to a booking error, we weren’t supposed to stay for all 5 days. I contacted the host immediately, but they refused to fix it. VRBO offered to cancel the transaction so I could rebook with the correct dates, but the host refused and only offered a very small reimbursement while keeping most of the payment.Because of this, I had to rearrange my holiday with my kids and couldn’t spend time at Virginia Beach, as I couldn’t afford two places. Mistakes happen, but only good people are willing to fix them.Parking is very limited. We chose 5 street parking instead of the 25 the host required at the neighbor’s property, since no parking is provided. But be warned you can look for a long time.

Had a wonderful stay at this calm n quiet property! The place was cozy, clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable visit. I had easy access to local shops and transit. The host was extremely responsive throughout and super helpful, and this is the BEST thing about this place.

The bus to the city is close to the property, the owners were very good at communicating and even gave us a walk through of the property even though we landed late. Greatly recommend!

First time in NYC Welcomed on arrival. Interesting property and very convenient for travel to Manhattan. NJ Transit is regular and clean so the journey was fine and included views of the skyline at all hours. Quiet bolthole with some good restaurants locally. Beds comfortable, everywhere clean. Enjoyable stay

Family NY Trip Had a wonderful time as a family in NY. Home in Guttenberg worked great. Provided easy access to NJ Transit Bus route into the City and back. Once we figured out the routes it was very easy.

Decent stay Good location but limited street parking options. Home was clean and beds were comfy. Kitchen was not well stocked with cooking/baking supplies. Only 1 bathroom with sketchy shower - only ran scalding hot. No provided coffee, cleaning products, paper towels or shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Bedroom layout not ideal, and no blackout curtains so there was light in main bedroom all night long.

Great plece The apartment is nice and neighborhood is safe and clean, quiet. Close to New York (commute to Port Authority NY was easy and fast - several bus lines) . My family and I will definitely stay here again if we return for another visit to NYC area.
