I found a gem in Guimarães. This old house, once owned by a famous tennis player, is elegantly renovated. The front desk service was exceptional, and the bartender was very attentive. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection, not a long, unremarkable array of options. They even had fresh-cut mangoes, which was a delight. The only downside was the bar downstairs, which was incredibly noisy on Saturday nights, forcing me to sleep until 3 a.m.

The hotel is located in a restored palace, retaining most of its original features. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The pool and garden were large enough for the number of rooms and guests, both very clean and peaceful. The breakfast was of a quality and varied nature appropriate for the size of the hotel, avoiding food waste. The staff was always available and had an excellent attitude.

A hotel in a typical mansion, with very pretty rooms and beautiful common areas. The staff was excellent, and the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Very well located, yet removed from the busiest area, yet very central. A great choice.

A very beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated, and located in the city center. If I had to point out anything, it would be: the fact that there was construction going on inside; minor cleaning issues in the room (e.g., used coffee pods near the coffee machine, open bathroom amenities); and staff lacking experience (and confidence). Overall, it was good.

EXCEPCIONAL!. Esa sería la palabra para resumir la estancia! 😍, tanto por el lugar como el trato humano que podrás encontrar y te brindarán. Es una estancia en una antigua casa señorial rehabilitada en un hotel boutique con 14 habitación todas y cada una de ellas diferentes y las que pude ver, a cuál más bonita, cada una con su personalidad e identidad. Se respira tranquilidad, limpieza, la calidad de las sábanas, toallas, albornoces… es acorde al lugar. Una gozada dormir entre esas sábanas. La gobernanta se preocupa que todo esté perfecto! Tiene una pequeña piscina que disfrutamos al final del día u lo bueno que no tiene horario, la puedes utilizar las 24h. Las personas alojadas un silencio que entre todos parecíamos como estar en casa y disfrutar de esa tranquilidad. El desayuno una cucada, con productos de calidad, muy bien atendido y los dis camareros que están se preocupan no falte de nada. Gracias. La pequeña ciudad de Guimaraes es un tesoro por descubrir. Sus plazas, el castillo 🏰, Palacere y su gente te atrapa. La atención recibida en recepción tanto por Soraia como su compañero fue exquisita. También la atención que tuvo la directora a la salida de la estancia en saludarnos a ver si todo había estado bien. Gracias Tania por tu naturalidad y el buen trabajo que estáis haciendo. Ojalá se mantenga la calidad, el trato y da gusto y sitios tan bonitos especiales así!! Espero poder volver pronto!!! Un abrazo a todo el equipo!! Gracias por cuidarnos tan bien! 😊

Notre séjour a été bsolument parfait grâce à l’accueil chaleureux et professionnel du personnel. La chambre, spacieuse et impeccablement propre, offrait tout le confort attendu d’un hôtel 4 étoiles, avec une literie de grande qualité et une décoration raffinée. Le petit-déjeuner était varié et copieux, mettant en avant des produits frais et savoureux. L’emplacement de l’hôtel est idéal, permettant de découvrir facilement les environs. Nous recommandons vivement cet établissement ! --- Veux-tu que je l’adapte pour un contexte précis (séjour en bord de mer, en ville, pour affaires, en couple, en famille, etc.) ?

The service was top notch. We were given really helpful suggestions on things to do for a variety of interests. If João hadn’t told us, we wouldn’t have known it was market day and gotten a really authentic experience. The room was huge and comfortable. Linens and towels were clean and good quality. Rainfall showerhead was great. We were on the street side of the hotel per our request, but there is a church nearby so if you are a light sleeper, I recommend you request a room facing the garden/pool if you don’t want to be woken by the bells. The hotel was in a great location for walking to all the sites we wanted to visit (cable car, Duke’s palace, archeology museum). Many restaurants close by too. We were directed to a nearby parking garage that is easy to miss the first time driving by, but is so convenient to the hotel. Hotel staff was so friendly and explained some history of the building to us. They made special effort to make sure I had gluten free options for breakfast, which you don’t find often. My husband really enjoyed getting to talk to João about sports and general Portugal info too. Would absolutely recommend this hotel!

This is a very elegant hotel in a beautifully restored old building. The bar is very nice to sit and enjoy a local wine before heading out for dinner. It is a good location for restaurants. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room not facing the street.

A recent acquisition by the group the refurbished rooms are fantastic. A big feature of the hotel is it has a sun terrace and a pool, not many hotels in the town have this. The hotel is situated in one of the quieter areas but the old town is an easy 10 min walk. I recommend the room Miami...simply stunning. Great value.

An exceptional hotel. We are fortunate to be able to travel a lot, this hotel is one the best we’ve stayed in anywhere in the world. It’s a beautiful property with tasteful luxury decorations and furnishings, with an excellent location in the town centre of beautiful Guimaraes. What raises this hotel to an even higher level is the professional but friendly and personal service received from the wonderful staff. A particular mention for the Manager, the lovely Tanya, whose welcome was warm and friendly and and made our stay one of the best.

the hotel is in a historic family house recently very tastefully renovated. rooms are large, breakfast is very good ( from the cappuccino to the fresh fruit) there is a garden and swimming pool to relax. service is very helpful, parking is nearby and cheap. overall a great choice

the place, an old house of the mid 16ties, was refurbished in six years and became a jewel in the town. the staff is fantastic , the rooms superb, the breakfast so very good , the bathroom is something to remember. located in the old part of the town, it enables you to explore a lot of places just walking.

Very occasionally, TripAdvisor reviews are spot-on. Usually, they're hit and miss. This time, they're all on target. This place is magnificent. Every detail is perfection. From the smiling staff and fabulous concierge Tania, to the immaculate rooms, garden and swimming pool. It's so pristine, I feel my very presence taints it 😂  It probably does. Only sad that we have to leave after one night. And feel guilty that they have to wash these extremely beautiful bed linens and towels 😔 And all at a fraction of the price we've paid for hotels anywhere else in the world. Conquistador Palace, you are the King - and Queen - of Guimaraes. Long may you reign 👑

We had no idea this hotel was owned by the Porteguese tennis star Joao Sousa until we arrived and noticed the tennis theme. If you are a tennis fan, you will truly appreciate the many touches and tributes, and if you are not, you will still love this beautiful thoughtful hotel. This hotel is far more than your average top of the line boutique hotel. It is truly one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed at for this price point, or at five times this price pint. The level of attention to every detail is magnificent, as are the renovation choices in the palace. You can see the effort from start to finish documented, and thus appreciate the undertaking with attention to preservation. The rooms are named for the tennis tournaments, and are all beautiful and unique in different ways. Our room, Miami, was perfect, with tall windows, great light and gorgeous decor. The beds and linens are sublime, the furniture is art, the rooms are spotless and comfortable in every aspect. Beautiful bathrooms, top amenities, gorgeous original art in ever corner of the rooms and hotel - old and new mixed to complement. What makes it even more special is that it is family run, and the owner has chosen to give back to his hometown by preserving this bit of history with such love and care. The location is perfect for exploring this very charming town on foot. There is a modern and clean underground parking a block away, on the same street, very easy to access. Our only recommendation would be to put more of each item out for breakfast, as we felt like everyone was limited by very few slices of different food items, even though they were replenished. Beautiful set up for breakfast, but not as functional for efficiency of purpose.
