We had a mixed experience during our stay at the “Jardines de Abama Suites” hotel. In general, the hotel has potential but it is not being used to its full potential. 1. Arrival & check-in: We arrived at 6 p.m. but had to spend an hour looking for reception because there were no signs or anything similar to give directions. The hotel is really very difficult to find, partly because the address given is incorrect. When checking in, it quickly becomes clear that there is clearly a lack of staff. The arrival area is somewhat poorly designed and the only person at reception was obviously overwhelmed. 2. Hotel complex: Without a doubt one of the most beautiful complexes you can experience in Tenerife. Superb location and a wonderful view. The apartments are spacious, clean and well equipped. There is a golf course (handicap required) which is beautiful and a great infinity pool. We were disappointed with the “gym”. It basically only has cardio equipment and is very poorly equipped. 3. The staff: Some of them are nice but mostly a bit cold and uninspired. In general, a "can't do" mentality prevails. This means that you have to sort everything out on your own and cannot hand over responsibility to them. It is noticeable that there is not enough staff. The result is long waiting times for everything (room service, shuttle, ...) and poor organization. Example: If you request, drinkable water is only available in the room after a day. 4. Restaurant: The restaurant in the Hotel Jardines de Abama Suites is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You have to wait a long time for the food (around 30-40 minutes). When the food does arrive, it is delicious and the selection is good, but the portions are too small for what you pay for. The service also makes a lot of mistakes. We also went downstairs to the Melvin Restaurant, which belongs to their other hotel. The food was average and quite expensive. In general, you have to make a reservation in all the surrounding restaurants the evening before because otherwise you can only eat late (i.e. after 8 p.m.). On the day of arrival, this meant that dinner in the restaurant was not possible... 5. Construction work: Construction work continued during our stay, but we were not particularly bothered by the noise. It's a real shame that they don't make more of this great place. I would say that the management is simply not good... 5.
