I’ve stayed here maybe a dozen times over the last few years. I’ve seen some changes, some good and some not so. However, it remains one of my all time favourite hotels - and I’ve stayed in an awful lot of hotels! The location of the hotel is perfect for me. Quiet and away from busier parts of the island. However, the Red Level staff truly make the hotel stand out from the rest. The reception and concierge teams in the lounge are world class, and would grace any 5-star hotel, anywhere. Vero, Mario and Lucas, to name but three, are exceptional, but here’s not a weak link there, and apologies for those I’ve missed - all are beyond good. And now the ever ebullient Mohamed (apologies if I’ve spelled his name incorrectly) has a rival in Rai, who is also full of smiles and energy! They literally bounce around the place beaming, and bringing their own additional sunshine to proceedings! I really hate to whinge about anything here, but it’s a relatively minor, and not a deal breaker, but there has to be brand consistency across ‘Level’ based lounges within the Melia group. I understand there will always be minor local variations, but certain features are non-negotiable. So please, drop the ridiculous sweet-only snack offerings during the day. The significantly increased price for staying in the Red Level area over other areas of the hotel means you have easily factored in enough money to stay in line with every other Melia lounge I know, and every executive lounge I have encountered in other hotel chains. So please let’s get rid of this daft and ill-conceived idea of only putting out cakes and doughnuts, etc. Back to the positives…I’m back for another stay next month, and really looking forward to it, as always.
