Guestling Hall Hotel

Breakfast was lovely however our room (6) had a radiator on full blast that could not be switched off or turned down so we slept with the window open and were woken several times by traffic and an Owl hooting!

Staff are very friendly, breakfast was good, I had a sausage and bacon sandwich one morning, it was a proper sandwich.

We came across this beautiful when looking for somewhere to stay. What an amazing hotel. The furnishings are amazing with wonderful history. Staff are very welcoming and food was lovely. We would definitely come here again. Certainly recommend 👌

We came to Hastings as never been before, we booked the Guestling hotel on a buy a gift voucher and oh my word, what a lovely, cosy place, it has beautiful character with an African theme. Rooms are clean and tidy, having all the essential amenities. The owners are so lovely and welcoming and can not do enough to ensure their guests enjoy their stay. We had a problem with the shower and the problem was rectified in record time whilst we had breakfast, ensuring there was no disruption to our stay, excellent customer service. Full English breakfast was cooked to each guests liking and we very much enjoyed the chefs singing from the kitchen, whilst we ate his lovely food, its clear to see that everyone who works there are happy in their jobs. We have loved our 2 night stay and will definitely be back. Thank you Guestling Hotel.

My husband and I stayed for a night. The hotel was excellent peace place Our room was lovely, airey and clean. Lovely touch welcoming gift. Chad and his staff were very friendly, welcoming, nothing was too much bother. I would 100% recommend the hotel and will definitely be back

First thing to say is that the manager Chad and his partner Beth were lovely and did everything they could to assist. Sadly though there were so many things we weren’t happy with. Our room appeared good until we looked a little closer and could have written our names in the dust on the bedside cabinet and the dust on the floor by the bathroom was awful - goodness knows when it had last had a good clean! We did mention it and Beth went up and gave it a clean which was a vast improvement but it shouldn’t have been in that state to start with! The website states…. “ Our Mediterranean traditional hot and cold meze plates. A dish of the day is also available, please ask the chef on arrival. We have a great range of local suppliers who provide us with the highest quality, fresh and local produce.” So we were really looking forward to some good dining. Looking forward to the cold meze plates we asked what snacks there were and were told none other than a packet of crisps, a piece of cake or they could do us a sandwich. There was a pre-printed set menu on display offering a few basics which we took to be a lunch menu but were disappointed to find that it was the dinner menu. The choice of mains were lasagna, curry, sausage and mash with onion gravy. Not exactly inspiring but we plumped for the sausage and mash. The sausages were so tasteless that we had to ask what meat they were as it was unidentifiable! We were told it was pork but I have never tasted such a bland tasteless excuse for a sausage. The onion gravy was also tasteless - not a sign of an onion! It tasted like what you would expect from gravy granules! My husband loves his food and never leaves anything but even he left half of his as it was just plain unappetising. We did mention it to the manager and they did take a course off of the bill but the whole point of going away for a night was to have a night off from cooking and to be spoilt! If you’re going to offer such a limited menu then at least make it good quality and well cooked! I also agree with the other reviewer regarding cleanliness - they must have been there last night as we also weren’t impressed with the slug trails in the dining / breakfast room! We had sat outside the previous afternoon and the outside tables looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks! Our bathroom was tiny and the sink was the size you would expect in a cloakroom - nowhere to put anything and the only (tiny) shelf was over the sink making it almost impossible to clean your teeth or have a wash without bashing your head on the shelf. As to breakfast! The full English was marginally better than dinner but the tea and coffee were what you would have had in the room to help yourself - instant coffee? Would cost you extra to have a filter coffee - really! I also agree with the other reviewer about the bed! Ours also had so seen better days! Would I stay there again? Not on your Nelly!
