Guestling Hall Hotel

Breakfast was lovely however our room (6) had a radiator on full blast that could not be switched off or turned down so we slept with the window open and were woken several times by traffic and an Owl hooting!

Staff are very friendly, breakfast was good, I had a sausage and bacon sandwich one morning, it was a proper sandwich.

Very comfortable stay. Bed was comfortable, fresh crisp linen room was good size with plenty of hanging space. Barhroom had a shower and was completely adequate for the stay. Breakfast was good and the staff were great. All in all a hotel I would stay in again

For a 4* hotel this was very disappointing more like a 2.5* On our arrival we were met by a young guy and were told we hadn't parked correctly, even after this we entered the hotel to register our stay and yet there was NO Welcome to the hotel. Very shoddy for a said 4* establishment. We informed the gentleman that we had afternoon tea booked and was told it'll be ready at 4pm which was fine that's what we booked. We went to our room very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. We went down just before our booking was shown into the room. Took our seats and was asked what tea we wanted. (English breakfast) tea arrives tea bags not loose tea. A nice selection of 3 fillings of sandwiches most enjoyable. Asked to buy a bottle of sparkling wine to accompany the tea service and was told they didn't have any. Disappointed, no alternative offered. Also there were 2 pieces of homemade cake one carrot one coffee walnut, very nice, the scones were stone cold would have been nice if they'd been warmed prior to serving. The other cakes serves were pre bought macaroons and some pre bought little fancies on the top tie. We finished eating and retired to our room. Breakfast was disappointing too. Went for breakfast following morning very limited selection on offer A few cereals, porridge pots, and instant coffee. filter coffee was an extra charge. Options were full English or a vegan option. We both ordered full English weren't asked how we'd like our eggs and then were told that they had run out if baked beans nothing else offered in its place. (eg extra rashers or sausage or hash brown) yet again very disappointed. We visited this place 4yrs ago and the service was far better and more attentive hence we rebooked for my Birthday. But after this visit we certainly won't be going back and will not recommend this establishment to family nor friends, also maybe the two people running the show on the day could do with some better customer service training as it didn't feel like a 4* experience.

I had booked this hotel in April 2025 for a break in early July. I was informed by the hotel the day before I was travelling that the restaurant had been closed with immediate effect and the swimming pool that I had been told was open, had not been in use for 2 years! Furthermore, although I have had a conversation with the general manager this morning, he eventually ended the call abuptly with me. Be very wary if booking at Guestling Hall.

The staff were polite and smiley. Unfortunately the outside of the building needed needs lots of repairs and painting. The room we stayed in was clean and tidy but it had 2 faults. The toilet seat was very loose and the plug in the sink didn't fit tight so that water ran out before you could was your face. Both need attention.
