First off, the location, in my opinion, is quite good. It's right outside Exit E of Metro Line 2, though the only downside is the lack of an elevator. Turn left out of the hotel and walk straight for about 600 meters to reach Beijing Road commercial area. There's a 'Shrimp Dumpling Girl' restaurant diagonally opposite the hotel. This is an older hotel that's been renovated, so the conditions are pretty decent now, including a smart toilet. It's a shame it's not a 'three-way separation' bathroom (wet and dry areas, plus toilet separated). Also, the faucet handles on the sink aren't very ergonomic; it's a minor flaw that doesn't really affect usability but does detract a bit from the experience. Overall, I'm still quite satisfied.

The view from the room's window was stunning, offering a panoramic sight of the mighty Pearl River. The room itself was spacious and impeccably clean. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent service.

Although the hotel is a bit old, its overall condition is quite good. The hot water supply is plentiful, the air conditioning is very cool, and the front desk service is excellent. What I liked most was the hotel's location: it's just a few hundred meters from both Haizhu Subway Station and Yide Road Subway Station, making transportation very convenient. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is only 200 meters behind the hotel, and the Pearl River is 100 meters in front, making it very pleasant for walks and strolls. Cycling along the Pearl River bank is also very enjoyable. There are many great food options right outside the hotel to both the left and right, like Xinki Seafood and He Bao Qiang, so dining is very convenient.

The room was clean but felt a bit dated. The air conditioning unit, though old-fashioned with its switch, was surprisingly powerful, making the room quite cold, so I turned it off as soon as I got in. The hotel's location is fantastic, right by the river, and it's steeped in unique history and culture. Back in its glory days, it was a prestigious luxury hotspot, known as the go-to venue where high-ranking officials entertained distinguished guests! I'd suggest renovating the rooms and walls, perhaps with a heritage-style refurbishment, as the wallpaper and ceiling panels are showing visible wear, damage, and cracks from age. Despite these issues, the price offers good value for money.

A stone's throw away from the Pearl River. Take the overhead bridge. There are more restaurants across the street. It was a straightforward and friendly service from day one to our last day. If you need anything or find anything lacking, just ask. They will try their best to accommodate you. We were hesitant to approach at first (most of them looked pretty stern 😅) but it turned out they were more than happy to help. For housekeeping, you need to give clear instructions. Otherwise, they will just enter your room to refill amenities and make the bed (no new sheets or sweeping unless you specify it beforehand). The housekeepers are all very cheerful. Spacious room. When we were there (8-12⁰C most nights), the central heating was not working. No self-service laundry!
