Ari and Billy are wonderful hosts! They go out of their way to accommodate virtually every guest, from bikers to hikers to just plain tourists. The Casa itself is perched high upon a hill above town but just steps from both the funicular and a stairway straight to Centro. Cherish the sweeping view, and the wide variety of art and metal work throughout the inn. And be sure to work breakfast in to your schedule. Ari and her team put their heart + soul in to creating a complete, traditional breakfast each morning. The hillside location does mean the Casa has many stairs, so not the best choice for physically impaired.

You must stay more than a couple of days…because Casa Zuniga is unlike any bed and breakfast you will stay in! There were 4 of us-women friends-and we all felt the same. From the moment we were greeted at the front of the house we knew this was a special place. The location is perfect for seeing Guanajuato, views of the city, hills and its colorful, sparkling lights at night. Breakfasts were a treat and they satisfied everyone’s needs. LOVE, LOVE the pancakes! Coffee was ready in the morning..delicious. The architecture and design of the rooms and public areas displayed the delightful history of its owners, welcomed us to relax and settle in…and provided for our needs in many ways. Billy and Ari will help you navigate the streets of Guanajuato, alleys, historical sites and restaurants so that you quickly become adept at finding your way around and…back to Casa Zuniga at the end of the day. Thank you to all at Casa Zuniga for a home we all hope to return to!!

There is no better place to stay in Guanajuato than Casa Zuniga, a quirky but wonderful b&b. And quirky in the best possible sense. Built by Carmen and Rick (sadly, passed away last year), and now run and managed by their daughter, Ari, and her husband, Billy, this is one of the most remarkable and interesting places to stay. Here you’ll find a warm welcome and personal attention. Breakfast is family-style with all the guests sitting down at one large table with a good breakfast spread every morning. This is one of the most social places I’ve ever visited and Billy and Ari do their best to encourage these kind of connections. The b&b was lovingly built by Rick and Carmen, with many, many fun nooks and crannies to explore. Rick was a metal worker and there are some amazing pieces throughout. If Mexico is the land of murals, then Casa Zuniga is a great representative of this art form - there are also many murals to enjoy - so make sure you give yourself time to wander around the b&b to admire this unique setting. Located on the top of one of the hills overlooking the Centro, the views from here are incredible! You could just sit and watch the changing of the light from one of the terraces, whether your own room or the beautiful shared terrace. Each room is unique. We stayed in 3 different rooms, including one with a terrace. Our favorite room was Rene. We also stayed in Max, which is lovely and has an outside terrace. Although it didn’t have an outside terrace, the sitting area on a raised platform has a huge picture window and it’s a great place sit at any time of the day and enjoy a coffee (or anything else!) while admiring the views. Oh, yes, and there’s a swimming pool (covered), so don’t forget your swimsuit! No worries, getting there is easy. We arrived by taxi, which took us to the top of the hill beside Casa Zuniga (location beside El Pipila, the large stature of a local hero which overlooks the city). And from the Centro, which is below the b&b, you’ll take a short funicular ride to the top of the hill and it’s right next to Casa Zuniga. Guanajuato is an amazing city to visit - we loved it. And Casa Zuniga is THE place to stay. It’s magical.

This bed and breakfast feels like a home and a museum at the same time. Great location, comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful hosts, authentic Mexican breakfast. The house itself and all interior are full of original and beautiful artworks. Nice pool and great view from the terraces.

My experience at Casa Zuniga in Feb 2025 was relaxing, easy, and a perfect way to end my 11 days in Mexico. Billy & Ari were generous and friendly hosts, offering me the Margarita room, with the best view of the hillsides of Guanajuato. The lap pool was refreshing; the metal artwork created by Ari's father (unfortunately now gone) is intricate and amazing; the little sitting areas sprinkled throughout the property offer places to sit and read, get a little sun, or watch the local wildlife drink out of the fountain. This is a fascinating property where the owners live on site and treat you like a member of the family. It's just up the hill by funicular, so super close to the centro part of town, and offers some reprieve from the 24/7 noise of the musicians in the central plaza downtown. I didn't drive to this place, but there is a secure, attended parking lot nearby. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I visit Guanajuato.

Seriously, this is the only place you should consider staying in Guanajuato! The hosts Billy, Ari and the gorgeous Carmelita are unbelievable. So so lovely and helpful, full of local history and knowledge. Fantastic large rooms, views are amazing and the breakfasts are delicious! I’ve stayed the over the past 12 years and will always come back! Thank you from the Kiwis and Aussies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am not sure which is better, the great family that owns Casa Zuniga or the fascinating travelers it attracts. This is a real bed and breakfast of the old days. Lovely room and very good breakfast. The beds are comfortable and our room had a balcony looking out over the city. Be aware Casa Zuniga is way up a hill, with many stairs both to reach it and inside once you are there. So maybe not the best choice if stairs are a problem. But we loved the 8 days we stayed. Bravo Carmen, Ari and Billy.

We stayed 3 nights at the end of December and we loved staying here. We got upgraded to the Marguerita Room which had views to die for. Would recommend that room! Loved lying in bed watching the sun rise and seeing the view of all the houses. The breakfasts were the best we had in our 3 weeks in Mexico. The property is very interesting and Billy and Ari had lots of tales to tell about it. Other reviews have said it all really, would highly recommend staying here. (If you have mobility issues its not the place for you as a lot of stairs)

Casa Zuniga, Billy, Ari, and their whole crew are a treasure. We stayed mid-January 2025 and it’s one of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed in Latin America. Transfer from the airport (with driver Israel) was a breeze. The bed and breakfast is dreamy, like something MC Escher would conceive, but more thoughtful and less abstract. Our room, Max, has to be the best in the building. Excellent balcony, a view that cannot be described, comfortable sitting area, and great bed. Breakfast is absolutely delicious. Ari makes some award winning salsas, tostadas, quiches, and eggs. Speaking with them during breakfast, or just randomly throughout the day, is like talking to “cool parents” and makes you want to move there and be permanent friends. I cannot recommend enough. Staying above the city center is the way to go….. easy to get down and the Incline Rail (funicular) is an easy way up. It gets you away from the hustle downtown, but you can still hear from your balcony. Whoever you are, you should go to Guanajuato and stay here.
