Very nice hotel, elegant environment, spacious rooms, rich breakfast, there are several hot dishes, more in line with the Chinese appetite

This hotel is not what you see described. When we booked it showed as 4 stars but now shows as 3 stars. The place is dirty, staff is not very friendly, breakfast absolutely to avoid. We were given a room in the cloister without windows.and the loos had a very bad smell.....we were changed room to then have a very dirty room, broken furniture and NO HOT WATER.......the hotel and Trip did not seem to care at all and we were made to pay one night penalty to cancel the reservation.

Some of the rooms in this hotel do not have windows. My boyfrined said the pool was dirty so I did not use it. The room was. Breakfast was okay and cheap. The highlight of this hotel is the location and its historic charm!! The security at the hotel was very good and the staff was very professional! Hotel does have a certain charm!

This is my favorite hotel out of anywhere I’ve stayed in the world. It’s just a gorgeous building, and I could spend an awful long time just wandering around examining all the details. Pool on the roof is pretty nice too. If coming to Guadalajara this has got to be the place to stay in

The hotel building dates from the 1880s, when it was built to house people arriving on the railroad. It has that historic feel throughout, although it's had additions and been updated nicely through the years. The building has a solid façade, but inside are 3 or 4 courtyards around which the rooms are dispersed. The lobby has one of these courtyards, and when we were there it was almost magical with a fountain and lights strung at each level of the atrium. So beautiful at night. Our room was nice, too. It had a historic feel to it, but the furniture and amenities were all modern. It was a good size, had a separate desk and credenza, and a nice view out over the Jardin de San Francisco and its Templo. There was a bit of road noise, but that disappeared at night. They offer a buffet breakfast that was not included in our rate. It's served in the lobby's courtyard, and looked rather unimpressive for the price. The service provided by the desk agent, concierge, and doormen was always friendly and they were incredibly helpful. Oh, and the location is great for exploring Guadalajara--just 4 blocks from the Plaza de Armas/Plaza de Guadalajara. We did walk to the Instituto Cabañas, but it was about 1 km. What a fantastic hotel in a fantastic city.

Beautiful, clean and historic hotel. Lovely breakfast too. Very helpful staff. Great location. Rooms are spacious, albeit a little dark. Overall a fantastic experience and I would definitely return!
