Avid Hotel Augusta W - Grovetown

Hotel was decent. They never changed the bedding during the 8 days we were there. Only had the do not disturb sign up the morning after check in, so they had a week. Had to exchange our towels. On the plus side, it's near everything

Lie, Lie, Deny and Deflect should be an unofficial statement for their staff. Booked room on 16 July for 18 July 2025 on the IHG app (with my credit card) for a funeral. I received an email that my room was canceled when my family was 20 minutes out from the hotel. Contacted the front desk clerk (Marri) while at exit 172 (hotel is at exit 190) who stated that he ran my credit card several times, but it was declined each time. He then stated that he attempted to call me several times, but I failed to answer the phone as well, so he canceled my reservation. Curious that I never received an email or text from my bank that my card was ran or declined, I verified my card last four (which is the same credit card on my profile) with Marri and he assured me that he ran the card himself in addition to making the phone calls. Me and my daughter asked if he could provide proof that he actually ran my credit card and he stated he could, so I told him I would be at the hotel in a few minutes to retrieve the info. We arrived at the hotel, proceeded straight to the front desk and asked for Marri. He was at the desk and provided us a print-out of a document from the hotel. Marri changed his story after we arrived to say that it was the morning shift front desk clerk who ran my card and attempted to call me. After reviewing the document, we noticed that the method of payment said “cash,” my German cellphone number was listed and that a comment said “overbooked.” I asked Marri about his past statements of him saying that he personally ran my credit card several times (that was declined) and it was he who attempted to call me several times. He then changed his story that he never ran my credit card because now the reservation said cash. We asked how did or would he cancel a reservation that has a method of payment as cash as well as the fact that someone can’t even reserve a room on the app without a credit card. After some back and forth, he made that statement to someone on the phone that he can’t deal with these people and we inquired about who was on the phone. Marri stated that it was his General Manager on the phone and we asked to speak to her. After talking with the General Manager (Kierstin, spelling may be wrong), she had already called another IHG hotel (the Holiday Inn Express next door) to book us a room at the same rate as our reservation. The general manager also confirmed that no one ran my credit card and that the hotel can’t even call international phone numbers, so the entire story given by Marri was fabricated and a flat out slew of lies. Marri never once apologized for his numerous lies, denials and deflection of the facts.

I made reservations for a vehicle at the airport in Atlanta for a drop off in Greenville South Carolina they did not tell me that I needed a return flight out when I return the vehicle so I could not rent the vehicle from the airport. They also did not tell me I needed to rent with a credit card if I’m returning at another location.

Nice location rooms aren’t fancy but who cares only sleeping in it.

This property seems to be new, so of course it was really sparkling clean. It was quiet. The breakfast area was clean and stocked.
