The Happy Traveler is a family-run hotel and this is visible every step of the way. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and the hotel itself is designed with care to ensure a pleasant dtay. The Happy Traveler is located 50m from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, and everything is within walking distance, with a couple of good bars right under the windows. I will stay here whenever I am in Groningen.

We really liked the "Happy Traveler." It's so centrally located, really nice, and decorated in keeping with its name. The rooms were suitable for single travelers, but with a large bed; really good, and everything was very clean and included toiletries. The rooms face the inner courtyard; the windows have shutters on the inside to reduce noise. It gets loud outside in the courtyard in the evenings because people sit there and party. The hotel warns about this beforehand, and every room is provided with earplugs. My opinion is, you either go out partying late yourself or you can handle it, because it's really loud 🙃 The breakfast is plentiful and excellent! The staff is very friendly!
