This is a great hotel that I found by accident. Looking for a good place to stop overnight on way to Anstruther from Stafford, this is it. Beds are really comfortable with great fluffy pillows. We chose a twin room, but double are available. The room was spacious and well stocked with tea coffee etc. loads of hot water and shower facilities. The food is home cooked and delicious. The proprietor was very friendly and attentive, couldn’t have made us more welcome. Drinks are reasonably priced. A 5 min walk away is a great shopping centre, and in the opposite direction an other 5 min walk takes you into the village of Gretna. I will be stopping here again that’s for sure.

Übernachtung in Gretna Green
Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Frühstück konnten wir nach unseren Wünschen online zusammenstellen. So bekommt jeder das, was er mag und es werden nicht unnötig Lebensmittel weggeworfen. Das Hotel ist ein Katzensprung vom tollen Outlet Center entfernt.

Good, but could be great.
This is a beautiful art deco gem of a building. The proprietors are rightly proud of it. The welcome was friendly. The food was excellent. The restaurant was nice in spite of the lack of atmosphere- we were the only ones there! The room disappointed a little. It was small, and there was nowhere to put your bags except the floor or the bed. On the plus side, it was nicely done, and had a good coffee machine and quality biscuits. The biggest negative for me was the lack of a shelf in the bathroom- the only place for my toilet bag and makeup was the floor or the toilet seat! A couple of small improvements and this would get 5 stars from me.

Excellent in every department
We stayed one night at hunters lodge as part of a trip around Scotland. Out of the four we stayed in it was without a doubt the best. From the moment we walk in we were treated more like family than guest.
Warm welcome, lovely clean and spacious
Room. Food was lovely . Nothing to much trouble. Will definitely go back and stay for longer next time.

Pleasant stay at the Hunters Lodge Aug-22
Lovely stay at the Hunters Lodge hotel in Gretna in August 22.
Convenient location a short distance from the motorway and also nicely placed for access to local shops and restaurants.
The owner Linda was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, from recommending local attractions worth visiting to providing sellotape :-)
Breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay, fantastic quality sausages, bacon and haggis, as well as plenty of other choices.
Only a couple of minor negatives, no fridge in the room and we were located at the front of the hotel on the road - the windows are a bit dated and not particularly soundproof which means you can hear the traffic early in the morning.
That said, we really enjoyed our stay and would certainly book again if we are up that way.

Friendly and professional staff
Everything went as expected. Although dated in decor the staff were friendly and professional. We requested additional pillows and despite being told they were busy and might take some time, they arrived in less than 30 minutes.
