Such a pleasure to have spent time here, such a quaint hotel, outbuildings and beautiful grounds. Without exception I truly believe every single member of the team went the extra mile when dealing with you.Alison, Kenny, Steven and Maria all deserve an extra mention thank you all for making our experience faultless and so enjoyable. The decor is appealing to the eye and the building is steeped in history.

Planned to spend 1000s of pounds here. On the very day b4 the wedding I get a call from Chloe who tries to sneak a £50 charge in for a restaurant table I booked privately at a different venue (with no charge), then tried to gaslight me re the charge and then quickly challenged me on tone/volume of voice. Absolutely appalling way to treat any customer but the day before a wedding is the height of predatory upselling. Would never recommend this place or the Smiths restaurant hotel next door. They thought they had a sucker. Sadly no. No no no.

My wife and I stayed here as my wife was competing in The Wall ultra marathon that runs from Carlisle to Newcastle, arrived late and left early but the room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay again if we were ever that far North again.

We got married at Gretna last week and stayed here for 2 nights and couldn’t praise this hotel and staff enough!!! From start to finish the food, staff,location and rooms were excellent…. Couldn’t have asked for more!!!! Great memories were made here 🥂

I discovered this hotel last year and stayed a few times in a variety of different standards of rooms. Have just had my first stay this year and staff were exceptional. I have some mobility issues though I don’t need full accessible room. Stairs are a nuisance and showers can have too high a step. When I booked mentioning stair issue, booking staff were very helpful. On arrival reception staff were even more helpful changing my room to a genuine walk-in shower on the ground floor. The helpfulness of the reception staff made a huge difference to my stay. The dining room staff were as usual professional, courteous and helpful. The room was very clean as usual.

Gorgeous hotel, Really comfy beds, nice powerful shower, friendly staff, special shout out to Flo and Roberta in the main reception, so happy to help us print off a voucher for our wedding present, could not help us enough, Will definitely be back.

If you don't mind crowds of folk from cheap coach holidays or women of a certain age looking for long ago times as glamorous bridesmaids this is for you. To be fair the room was spacious comfortable and clean. The restaurant on the other hand on this occasion was full of elderly slightly immobile folk on holiday I can only presume with a cheap coach tour, they had obviously been somewhere very warm all day as the collective body arome was a bit powerful in the bar. Food very ordinary, bar offering a bit limited. It served its purpose as an overnight stay to break a long journey, would I stay again, no!
