Cressfield Country House Hotel

We did two overnight stops, first going North and second travelling South aexcellent rooms few nights later. This hotel meets every need, lovely rooms and bathroom. Restaurant food of a very high standard and probably the most important the staff, who are friendly and cannot do enough to satisfy. Will be back.

I stayed here with family to celebrate my mums 85th birthday and all I can say it was fantastic! We had 2 dogs in tow which was no problem at all. Nigel and his team are Fantastic! Rooms very spacious and comfortable Lunch, buffet and breakfast was delicious! We are planning to make it a regular thing as we all travelled from different areas to meet up. My sis is the kind of person who has a moan about something whether it's food room or something else and for the first time ever... and I mean ever! she could only sing the praises of everything. Prices were very reasonable too. So if you are looking for a lovely experience in between gretna and Lockerbie this is the place to stay, just for the record on the night we stayed they had Xmas work parties in the downstairs function room and our service wasn't affected by it for the small team. I highly recommend you consider staying. Loved it!!

Family function , Nigel and his team were excellent, nothing was to much trouble, great time had by all, food was delicious not to much or little, room was large and comfortable with everything you need. Lovely location , would definitely recommend.

Unlike some places that describe themselves as a country house hotel, this is the real thing. It’s fairly small, and not ostentatious, but comfortable and well maintained. The main rooms downstairs have beautiful high ceilings, and the views from the rooms aren’t bad either. The place is obviously also something of a local community destination, as it was well attended by locals having their Sunday lunches and evening meals. Service was excellent with one young man, particularly, who just couldn’t do enough to help us. Food was also very good, not in the fine dining sense, but in the good quality pub sense. The rooms were clean and well-appointed. We were in the top rooms (probably the old servants’ quarters), so a little less salubrious than maybe the the other ones were, but nevertheless spacious enough. Overall excellent value for money.

How stupid have I been? For almost two years, I have lived approximately 250 metres from the front door of this hotel - and until Saturday, I’d never gone through that door! What a fool I’ve been. The staff, the food, the decor - all excellent. Let me say that again; staff, food, decor - fantastic! Especially the food. Or was it the staff? The bar and dining room with their picture postcard windows? So much to praise. Can’t wait to return.
