Lovely restaurant inside a lively pub . Great menu ! The food was lovely , hot delicious and well presented . We ordered a side of buttered green vegetables to go with our meals and it was a very generous portion indeed more than enough for two . We had the chocolate and blackberry desert which was absolutely delicious and one of the best deserts we have had . Highly recommended! The service was excellent and the ambience in the restaurant was good .

Food and service was excellent, price was slightly over what you would expect, but not ridiculous at all. The Hotel is nicely decorated and very clean, with a lovely dining area and a nice outside space at the front that is an early evening sun trap.

Booked in on a Friday night at 8:30pm. The restaurant is a windowless room off the back of the pub but it’s decorated nicely and is spacious. Food was really good , had a fabulous chicken pie alongside a lovely Earl Grey IPA. The staff were welcoming throughout, service was prompt and the bill was £90 for 2 courses for 2 people, that included drinks and a tip which I thought was really good value.

Great location with lovely comfortable bedrooms. We stayed in room 16 which is on the second floor. Large bed, cool room with fridge and complimentary goodies. Not good if you have difficulty with stairs but what do you expect in an old Yorkshire Dales inn? All the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and the food was wholesome and good value

Fabulous staff fabulous food fabulous place to stop for the weekend. Fred & the young lady in restaurant were fantastic, first class service. Wish I could have eaten more ! But I would have busted!! Would I come again? You bet I will.

Having eaten in the restaurant here several times in the recent past we were disappointed today. The bar staff member ignored us at first and then was brusque, even rude. A burger was undercooked and only partially edible; this was reported to the kitchen without response. We will think twice about eating here again.

This is the fifth time we have stayed at the Black Horse this year !!!! Excellent friendly polite staff. We had Room 15 on this occasion - as far as we are concerned, the best. The shower in this room is really good. Every time we visit the Black Horse, everything is perfect

The reviews suggest we should give this place another try, but staff seemed unfriendly and stressed, even though it didn't seem busy. Only four people in the restaurant but snappy staff member said they couldn't fit my wife and I in due to sudden high number of orders. We sat for a while and it didn't get much busier. Had thought we'd spend most of our evenings eating and drinking here but didn't go back having found the Devonshire Arms to be just the opposite, in that it was friendly, helpful with great food and superior/excellent ales so that's where we spent the next three evenings.
