The Holbrooke Hotel

A step back in time to the 1800's I believe the hotel was originally open in 1851. The folks have brought it into the present but kept it's 1800 charm. It wasn't so much remodeled , but rather updated. Each of the rooms are different in size and decor. Our room 17 was a bit small but we didn't feel cramped. It had been updated but again it was allowed to keep its charm. Bedding was comfortable, towels fluffy and amenities nice. The tub/shower was claw foot and it required a step stool to get in. I am uncertain about other rooms but there was no T.V. (ok with me) The room has an honor bar, refrigerator, safe. While there was no coffee machine there was a kettle and tea and instant coffee available. The staff was just great with a special shout out to Kim at the front desk who had lots of information about Grass Valley and the hotel. It was fun to chat with her. How much did I enjoy our stay? We are coming back!

We stayed for my birthday, we were there during the week - and had a lovely experience. Danny and Fiona - both at the front desk, went out of their way to be accommodating and kind. My partner has mobility issues and Danny not only brought extra pillows so I could elevate my partner's legs, but also found us a fan much to my delight (the perimeno night sweats can be brutal). And since our room (in the Percell House out back) didn't have a mini fridge to keep drinks cold, they also delivered ice buckets for us a couple of times during our stay. Fiona was helpful and knowledgable about the area, and held our shopping for us behind the desk when we dipped into the lobby while passing by so we didn't have to hike them back to the room.

Great hotel. Beautiful balcony in our room. Loved the decor. Bathroom and tub was lovely. Bed and Pillows were comfortable. Restaurant was great. The housekeeping left a personal note with coconut water wishing me well in my pregnancy which was an unexpected extra step that I was impressed by, very thoughtful!! No complaints!!

Room was kept in spotless condition. Maid service was excellent. I was in the guest house in the back, and it was quiet and cool in the hot summer weather. The continental breakfast was adequate in the original restaurant space. The public spaces in the hotel have been nicely kept up with a view to historical accuracy and atmosphere, lending a genuine old West atmosphere to this historic site..

All of the employees and managers were so welcoming and hospitable, the food was incredibly delicious, and the cleanliness of the property was immaculate! All of the employees from the front desk, bartender, and housekeeping had a special way of connecting with me during my stay.

The best hotel - the experience, staff, rooms, cleanliness - all is top notch! This was our second stay at this hotel and both times, we have felt happy just walking through the doors. Staff is friendly and greets you right away. The rooms are outstanding. The little boutique attached to the hotel is fun and I have always found a few things to take home. We have snacked at the bar, had lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food has always been fantastic and enjoyed The Miracle Bar over the New Year's Holiday - that is a must do experience. Christmas beyond - fun with friends! We look forward to the next time we visit!
