Stay at Strathmore was one of or many experiences. We both come from hospitality to have experiences at Strathmore, which was shocking. Very old room you could heard neighbour talking, the shower curtain was smell badly as no drying properly or never been wash. One of the windows couldn't close so we could smell the farmers' manure. The carpet is old and smells.
The price it's so expensive what the experienced they're offer.
The staff bar and restaurant were very nice. Also, they're help us to keep our cheese in theirs fridge. Lent us a wine glass.
We couldn't have dinner at the restaurant. As a food expertise. We get delicious food outside the hotel not far around 1 mile away. They're cheapest than the strathmore offer.

Very old looking run down needs totally  decorating from top to bottom …..
killed 5 flees in my bed not a clean place .
On the plus side the food . evening meal was good breakfast was fab …. Entertainment was good. Bar was busy people dancing throughout the night every one enjoying their self’s

It was a lovely hotel. The room was tidy and warm in the snowy day. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast here. The breakfast was typical English breakfast buffet.

How a hotel should be run.
A fantastic stay from the minute I booked in to the time I handed my key back, all the staff were so friendly and polite, nothing was too much for them and as for the room upgrade that was something I wasn’t expecting but most welcome.

Was Grand but not anymore
This hotel is in a grand old building in a great spot. Our room was spacious and had an excellent view over the bay (we had paid extra for this). However the cleaning was poor with lots of dust. The decoration was terrible with strips of wall paper hanging of the wall. The bed was made badly with the wrong size quilt in the quilt cover. Breakfast was a very stripped down offering.
The reception staff were particularity unhelpful.
This hotel is clearly in need of some TLC and definitely not worth the crazy price we were charged

On first impressions this place is very old and massive. It is in need of renovation, but what there is is very clean. It truly is one of the friendliest hotels I’ve stayed in in the UK. The staff were amazing and work very hard to make our stay run smoothly. We were part of a coach party and I truly cannot fault it. Our room was spotless, although bed was on the small side, just a double maybe a king size would be better. Beautiful resident peacock kept us entertained, one night he even strolled into the bar!

We had an afternoon tea, and both really enjoyed it. Tasty food and great service. The place is huge, with lots of history and I think is really underused. I think there’s lots of potential to be a fabulous hotel.
