There is no air cooler in the room and my room got changed without my concern. I don’t recommend anyone doing online booking and don’t take rockside rooms. It smells bad and not worth the money and, there is no such sea view you would get from the hotel.

We had a 6.15 booking and was promptly seated with a lovely view of the bay, starters were thai fish cakes, 3 quenelles which were very tasteless with a chilli mayo £7.80, again very tastless, and the heritage tomato salad £9.80 which was salad leaves with prob 3 tomatoes in total. Mains we had the Pork cutlet £22.95 which was cooked very nice, and the cod £24.95, fish cooked nice but 1 small fodant potato, desserts creme brulee which was delicious and the roasted pineapple which i thought would be warm as freshly grilled but was cold, shame, dessert dishes were taken away, we waited a good 10 mins but werent asked if we wanted tea or coffee so we paid and headed home. Beautiful setting and hotel, we will be back but will try the bar menu next time after visiting the spa, which was lovely.

We are frequent visitors to the hotel and always feel at home here. We were not disappointed - hotel has retained its charm. Food this time was a bit disappointing and I can see a few reviews all indicating similar so management do need to look at why as the food has always been great here. Staff are as usual lovely, helpful and kind - will be back in August !

My granddaughter and I visited for an afternoon tea treat recently. On arrival, we had to wait to be greeted, which wasn't the best first impression. Our afternoon tea was mediocre & the cakes absolutely tiny. I felt rushed as the room was filling with wedding guests all looking on at us .... My granddaughter, who is a tiny 13 year old, came out hungry! Sadly, we won't be returning.

We chose this hotel due to it looking superb and it's close proximity to the Lake District and it totally exceeded our expectations. Beautiful old building set in fabulous grounds and overlooking the bay at Grange-Over-Sands. The staff were all superb and they had clearly upgraded our room too which was simply stunning. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Our breakfast was fabulous and again the service was outstanding. I've already recommended this place to some of my golfing chums!

Booked this for Sunday lunch as we've had good experiences before. It was a special occasion and we were looking forward to a bay view and delicious food as we've had before. Unfortunately the usual dining room was closed and we were made to eat in the bar where there was a very limited menu, very slow service and below average food. I ordered a burger which was very over done and rock hard. The side salad was drowned in a mustard dressing and the sweet potato fries were over cooked too. Very disappointing.

We got married at the Netherwood and honestly couldn’t have picked a better place. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful, loads of our guests said how stunning and elegant it was. It looks very posh, but the whole atmosphere was so warm and relaxed, never stuffy at all. The staff were brilliant from start to finish. When we couldn’t find a food supplier for our Peruvian fiesta the night before the wedding, the hotel offered to step in and cook it themselves. We weren’t expecting much as the chef had never been to Peru, but the food was absolutely amazing, even our Peruvian guests were really impressed! It was such a kind and thoughtful thing to do. The whole day ran smoothly, and we felt so well looked after the entire time. Our wedding planner at the hotel made everything feel easy and stressfree. We’ll definitely be coming back, the Netherwood will always be a special place for us now.
