Spent my Birthday in Grand Marias and enjoyed our stay at EBS. Loved having the balcony and hearing the waves crashing to shore. Was able to see the Northern Lights and enjoyed the treats and hot chocolate provided. Also had popcorn each night, which was another nice treat.

The best place to stay on the North Shore! Beautiful setting with fully equipped units. Make sure to reserve one facing the lake to catch those amazing sunrises! Perfectly located in downtown Grand Marais so walking distance to everything including the fabulous coffee at Java Moose and of course, World's Best Donuts right across the street. Grand Marais is also an excellent home base for exploring all there is to see and do a long the North Shore. My family has now stayed here 4 times and will definitely return. Staff here are friendly and welcoming, and do a wonderful job making sure your stay is the best.

East Bay Suites is our favorite place to stay in Grand Marais. It is a very clean place. The staff are super friendly. It is the best location in Grand Marais. We've stayed a few times and plan to stay many more times in the future. Can't recommend this place enough.

Great downtown location right on Lake Superior. Nice accommodations with in unit kitchens. Pet friendly which was great for us, as was 2 bedroom unit for family. Great staff, easy parking. Prices are reasonable compared to other properties. We will continue to return.

Great place to stay! We were fortunate to have nice sunny weather for our short September stay but would have enjoyed our stay even in the rain. Cozy and quiet. The room was very clean with all the amenities you need. Spectacular view of Lake Superior and a friendly staff. We plan to go back again.

We had an excellent stay here! My husband and I stayed in a studio. We had a kitchenette so we could cook a little, but there’s restaurants nearby which we ate at for most of our trip. The place was clean, and we loved the balcony. It was somewhat costly compared to other stays, but I think it was worth it. The location was great. There’s a lot to do on the north shore and in town. We like walking around and exploring, and this place is great for that. The hotel also offers tons of amenities and has a lot of nice touches that make a difference on a trip.

We stayed 3 nights in late August 2024. 2 adults and 4 young kids. We stayed in a 1 bedroom accommodation. It had a full kitchen with full refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and dishes & silverware set. Everything was clean and in good condition in the apartment. The living room was about the same size as the bedroom and got a bit crowded when the sofa bed was opened up, but otherwise the room is plenty spacious. The kids enjoyed the balcony and being able to watch the Lake Superior waves, people kayaking, the local tour sailboat cruises, etc in the bay. The property offers popcorn in the evening, coffee and tea all day, fire pits (DIY - make your own fire with firewood, not the easy-light propane kind), s’mores for the fire pits and plenty of board games and activities to check out. Our kids particularly liked the telescope we could check out, and I was able to find Saturn and show that to them, which was the hit of the trip. The property is well maintained, quiet, and you cannot ask for a better location in Grand Marais - walking distance to everything. The DQ, the pizza shop (Sven and Ole’s?), the breakwater, etc. I took a star away since often the popcorn was gone by 5-5:30 PM in the evening and they did not make any more in the popcorn machine, though they will give you a bag of microwave popcorn for free for your room if you ask. Also the fire pit situation was a bit more work than I expected. Most other properties I’ve visited with the “free s’mores” feature have propane-fed or natural gas type fire bowls or fire pits that are just “on” all evening to use. I was not expecting to need my old Boy Scout skills to build a fire in a campsite-style fire ring and then put it out myself when done. Several of the light bulbs in our room also were burnt out, but otherwise the property and room were in good condition and very clean.

Loved how they maximized the space in the room. Room was beautiful and all the extras provided were an added bonus. Even washer/dryer in the room. View was stunning both in the morning and evening. Front staff was friendly and check in/out was a breeze.
